So what did actually happen for Boulton & Co today - was it Sky News with Dermot Murnaghan or from Westminster? And did News, Sport, Weather still go as a 20 minute bulletin or did we get Sky News with Martin Stanford?
It even seems odd saying "Sky News with.."!
Boulton and Co as usual from westminster with sarah hughes and sarah-jane mee
dermot with a normal sky news bulletin from sky centre
NSW still 20 minutes but this time with a voiceover for martin
I think that Sky should run a 2-presenter hour-long edition of Sky News Today, at peak times throughout the day. They've got the staff and I think they could get some good out of the newswall and what's left of standing up positions. Particularly, that odd one that they used for Afternoon Live where the camera was on the floor and Lorna was just talking into nowhere.
I like how it still uses the newswall but that's really no different to the BBC. And after the first story were have the gallery background again which I dislike and find it harder to understand the story without perhaps an image on the newswall to help describe the story.
When was the Island put in with the desk, just before the election around the relaunch or way back around the time we went to Studio B before 20years of Sky News?
You guys may well have spotted this already but from Monday Sky News' programme names apart from Sunrise, Boulton & Co and Jeff Randall Live have all been dropped and replaced with 'Sky News' - it seems even Live at Five will be 'Sky News at 5'. They will have standardised introductions and programmes will be simplified in terms of presentation. Afternoon Live becomes Sky News with Kay Burley and The Live Desk becomes Sky News with Charlotte Hawkins.
Bad move surely?!
Isn't this just the exact same thing they did in 2001-2005, where the programme names were all relegated to being shown on the EPG only and were on air all referred to as Sky News?
Even then, they didn't kill off Live at Five though...
the studio from 2005-2008 was far better with the globe background for worldnews and the better designed main desk and the two little isles and it was better when they started with a programme on the stairs and then walked to one isle
Another question I have pondered throughout the day... Are these changes to programming going to lead to a change of presenters. Im wondering are they getting away from the iconic Afternoon Live
with Kay Burley
or Live at Five with
Jeremy Thompson.
Maybe im completely off the mark but the presenters name went hand in hand with the program name...Maybe some major presenting changes?
Call me a conspiracy theorist but Sarah Hughes has done nearly every Live at Five while Jeremy has been away. Sky rate Sarah highly but shouldn't someone like Mark Longhurst or Steve Dixon or Colin Brazier be a stand in at live at five. Anna Jones is no longer a business presenter...could she be poised to take over Sky News between 2-5. Maybe these changes have just made me go mad but maybe there is something to these thoughts.
P.S. This probably could be in the presenters thread but its related to the change made.
The evening schedule is certainly a lot more watchable that before. The 20 minutes NSW are superior to the 15 minute ones and it is pleasing to hear that they did a voiceover for Martin at the 8pm TOTH. Sky News at 9 is also a major improvement on the previous 9pm offering.
Ideally they would extend the standardised Sky News format to 8pm and let Martin present from 8-10pm.

Sky World News remains and the voiceover says "This is Sky World News with Lukwesa Burak", The voiceover also remains for "Sky World News review and business report with Lukwesa Burak" at the half hour

Business is now back at the newswall. It looked like the camera was on what remains of the Island too.
Sky seem to have taken one step forward, two steps back this month. They've massively improved the evening schedule, although as others say Martin should get 8pm-10pm, not just NSW. But then now they've ruined the daytime schedule and made Sky News a commercial copy of BBC News during the day.
It will be interesting to see how Kay Burley gets on with the static Afternoon Live, and whether Sunrise is going to be double headed next weekend, like the EPG hints at.
