Voiceover of "This is Afternoon Live with Lorna Dunkley and Colin Brazier in Tokyo ". Quick work if it was specially recorded! Can't think of any other time when they would have recorded it previously.

I assume like many voice over artists, Bruce Hammal has a studio in his home with an ISDN link to Sky.

John Ryley was asked about how the potential spin off of Sky News UK might impact upon the arbaic service today,
Quote:
The ownership structure of Sky News Arabia will be "addressed at the relevant time" if News Corp's attempt to buy BSkyB proves successful, says John Ryley, the head of Sky News.

News Corp, headed by Rupert Murdoch, owns 39 per cent of the British media company BSkyB and is trying to buy the remaining shares, worth an estimated £8 billion (Dh47.34bn).But News Corp has agreed to spin off Sky News, which is owned by BSkyB, into a separate company and fund it for 10 years, following competition concerns over the deal.

News Corp would keep its 39 per cent stake in Sky News if the English-language channel were to be sold.

But Mr Ryley said there were no firm details concerning how the BSkyB buyout would affect the ownership structure of Sky News Arabia.

"Sky News Arabia, the joint venture, is not in any way directly relevant to what is going on in the UK," he said.

"The issue of what happens will be addressed at the relevant time."

I wonder should we have a separate thread for this topic?

There was however, no voiceover for Anna Botting based in Sendai. I always thought that Sky would have voiceovers of all the major cities on file: for example, New York, Washington, Paris etc.

Why bother recording them when 99.9% of them wont ever be used? Its much simpler to get the voice of God aka Bruce to record whats needed when its needed, he's probably doing weekly or at the very least monthly voice sessions for Sky Sports promos etc anyway so they can just slip it in then.

Video of the mock-up of the new Sky News Arabia studio. Nice music too: Wink

A new black glass look Sky News logo at the end too.

That studio looks fantastic, you can definitely see how the upgrade of the Westminster studio has impacted on the design of it (for example, the newsroom looks similar) and the music is also great, like you say. This channel looks like it's going to be so much better than the UK Sky News, especially funding-wise, it's a shame that we won't see much of it here in Britain.

Music is absolutely superb - Sky News UK should switch to this immediately because the current TOTH music on Sky News UK is dreadful.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but this video shows how a bespoke iPad app can be used to manipulate content displayed on the newswall.

I like how it's just a standard iPad with a bespoke app running on it. Perhapse the BBC could do something similar for their barco screens?

First review of the iPad app,

http://randommel.com/2011/03/16/sky-news-launches-ipad-app-exclusive-interview/

It has been in development for a year. Also of note is that while it will be free for the first couple of months, it will eventually be a paid subscription service for non-Sky subscribers while remaining free to Sky customers. Adam says in the video that they haven't worked out an exact charge yet because they want to see what the demand is like first.

It has a dedicated editorial team of 14.
