It was a very slow start on Monday. Audience figures were 39,000 (0.5%). The previous Monday The Live Desk had 41,000 (0.5%).

I wouldn't trust BARB's multichannel ratings. Last week 'Episodes' on BBC HD only registered 1,000, this week 41,000 an increaae of 4000% and the SD showing dropped!!

Iv noticed the newswall and gallery backdrop are being used tonight for news, sport, weather. A bit like it used to be before the studio revamp a couple of years ago. Wonder if this is an attempt to make it more watchable?

Certainly seems to have been a concerted attempt today to shake things up a bit with both Afternoon Live and now NSW making more use of the newswall.

all very well but I wonder who will do the newswall presentations now they've got rid of the headline newsreaders.
in fact, what are they going to do with all those spare newsreaders?

There was only two newsreader shifts 6-11am, then 11am-5pm. The newsreading shift on Sunrise remains (Charlote/Gillian), with the newsreader then presenting the live desk at 9am. So only the 11-5 shift has gone, and Sarah Hughes did that sometimes anyway

This means a lot less Sarah-Jane Mee. Another reason not to watch Sky News IMO.

And a lot less Matt Smith. Which can only be a positive.

I agree 100% with both the above.

Something minor I've noticed when they have BREAKING NEWS and then for instance YEATES MURDER CHARGE on the white bar next to it the padding at the right hand side always dissapears when a name strap comes on and then returns once the story text comes back on screen

Much better map of land now, a vast improvement on the cold map they have been using. From the forecast just now, it looked like the newswall was being used - I could see the panels on the UK-wide view.
Maybe we'll be seeing the Sunrise forecasts from the newswall later this week?
