Saw bits of the coverage today. Anna might have a sore throat tomorrow after several hours of shouting. The noise in the background certainly affected the coverage. I can't imagine the viewers being high given it was an elderly man going around in a white costume.
Obviously people will have their own opinions of the Papal Visit etc. but in terms of coverage I think Sky have been pretty superb. The HD footage from the Skycopter at the moment of London looks fantastic. Great to have Anna Botting leading the coverage aswell.
I agree - Colin and Anna have both been very good, and it's nice to see them both getting a look-in at big events rather than just Kay Burley, Dermot and JT.
Huge credit to the team behind Sky's coverage of the Papal Visit. I am not particularly religious but from a TV coverage point of view I thought Sky really were at the top of their game, the best coverage of a planned 'big event' I have ever seen on Sky News. Really impressed. I was also glad to see Anna Botting play such a key role and she was as ever a true professional.
Yes, I thought Sky did very well. They let the events speak for themselves and didn't cut away to commentators at inappropriate moments.
Alastair Bruce is a great asset, and Widdecombe and Fr Thomas Williams were also good choices.
Widdecombe leaning over the parapet of the media podium to sign autographs outside Westminster Cathedral added a sense of the absurd to the whole thing.
Could have probably done with some lip microphones for when somebody though it would be a good idea to do a live link/presentation/interview with a very loud concert going on in the background. Very surprised we managed to hear a presenter or correspondence at all. I mean if John Motson commentated on football matches with a boom mic or a radio mic you'd never hear him at any time the ball was touched.

Looks like they have a new way to to tell us how to switch to Sky News HD.
It's now a full length bar at the top of the screen where the Sky News logo and location are located and has the Sky News HD logo followed by WATCH IN HIGH DEFINITION ON SKY CHANNEL 517

I saw it earlier, I think it was just because it was Nick Clegg speaking and they probably had lots of graphics on the side panels and things on HD. It was a rather bulky, in-your-face sign - a bit too big for my liking, but that's Sky for you.

Anyone else getting fustrated at watching Sky's coverage of the Labour Party Conference & Leadership annoucement?
I've lost count of the amount of times Kay's mic has been left up, they keep cutting to VT's of the result which jumps from one camera to another within a second of it playing (why not cue it slightly on) - and that Cold Play song is getting right on my skinny tits...
