Does anyone else think the lighting is a little dodgy in Sky Centre since the HD launch? It seems a little dark on SD.

Also - and I know I might be being a bit picky here - but did anyone else think the animation of the new logo on the big plasma on the Sunrise set got a little distracting after a while?

And I agree with those who say the new headline bed lacks a little 'oomph'. Especially considering there is still no proper title sequence after the headlines. Seems a little lame.

Apart from that, lovely new TOTH theme, and some beautiful GFX.

WTF where is Saturday Live with Chris?

Kay Burley on location in Westminster seems pretty pointless to me as there aren't likely to be many developments today.

Loads of meetings going ahead today though, so you never know. Although I'm sure Chris would have been just as affective from Sky News Centre.

You never know. But as their reporter Paul Harrison just admitted, it's going to be "some hours" before anything happens.

Kay keeps giving it the HD name - I haven't seen anyone else call it that since the launch.

Yes they went very quiet on the HD front didn't they after launch. I think Kay's just calling it Sky News HD off her own back, but I wouldn't be surprised if it became the norm.

That could backfire. There might be some people watching on SD who end up thinking they are seeing it in HD. Laughing

Yes, I mentioned that yesterday. Seems a bit dull around the desk. The desk might benefit from some internal lighting.

It's amazing what a change of font and a few gradients adds to a graphics scheme.

I wish they wouldn't talk over the end of the TOTH sequence, Firstly because I like the TOTH sequence but also, I think it comes as a shock to the sound guys because all the times I've seen it they haven't managed to mix the sound correctly and you can't hear them and finally, there introducing that we are watching Sky News which is done in the V/O when we would normally get a studio pan. Confused

What's the official name of the new font?

I think the problem with Kay doing this is that she can't see the TOTH and she's Kay Burley, so I don't think she has got to grips with the new system yet. As you say, it is rather annoying and clearly not meant to happen.

EDIT: HD graphic just came up on SD, so you couldn't read it as it appeared under the ticker.

yeah I forgot she probably hasn't got a monitor. And I suppose that clears it up straight away 'its kay burley' Laughing bless her. She's also annoying me getting in Sky News HD all time, where as no one else is trying to ram it down our throats, which I thank Sky for because there is nothing more annoying than pushing something most of us cant access. For example Sky Sports HD.

First graphic I am not too keen on the split screen where one box is larger than another. Having the live strap go straight across looks a bit messy. Sorry for the rubbish description.

The monitor is delayed though. She would do the TOTH based on a cue from the director at Osterley.

The set does look dark and colorless on SD. Sad
