Big changes to the prime time schedule in the coming weeks. Jeff Randall Live will be an hour long and run from 7pm. Martin will present from 8pm to 10pm. It would appear SkyNews.com has been dropped.

so skynews.com is the only tv show with the web agenda for only another 10 days... then I cede 7pm to Randall and occupy 8-10pm instead!

That is a shock - unless Sky News.com moves to 8pm-9pm and then Martin does newswheel for an hour? Although that does sound like it's entirely being axed, from that tweet. Does anyone know the ratings for Skynews.com recently?

Just when you thought Sky News couldn't get any worse, they take away something that at least gave it something of an edge and put one of their few remaining talents on the 15 minute news slot.

Let's face it, they don't have a clue do they?? Everything about the channel these days is wrong. They are running it into the ground with the awful decisions they keep making.

Going HD was the worst thing that could have happened to Sky News because it's all gone massively downhill since then. I hated that they sacked Chris Roberts. I hated that they dropped professional weather forecasters for most of the day. And now I hate how they are treating Martin.

It's all being done on the cheap to pay for HD and boy can't you tell when you watch the channel nowadays. I'm willing to bet that only a few thousand at a time are watching on HD so you have to question whether it was worth it when the quality of the output has deteriorated to this extent in just 4 months since the change.

The return of Sky News with Martin Stanford then?! It should never have been axed in the first place, was a good prog, will be interesting to see how the new slot works...also how an hour of Jeff will work, perhaps more politics involved?

Does anyone actually know that Martin is going to be presenting newswheel? For all we know it could be a return to a proper evening program...

Afraid Martin has said on Twitter that he is doing the 15 min shows. Disappointing that they couldn't come up with a new show. Martin deserves better

Yes, He's confirmed it on twitter

twitamaniac asked: are you presenting a new show Martin or just taking over the 15 min updates?, @twitamaniac the latter!

I'm really annoyed about this, I enjoy SkyNews.com & Jeff Randall live but I won't be watching Jeff when this change takes place, Looks like we have seen the last technology unplugged as well then Sad

Martin is worth way more than a 15 minute format which is just boring to watch

Noticed today that there has been no business presenter, Please tell me this is not yet another cut to the service

Don't like the weather updates either, Bring Francis back,

Sky News is getting worse by the day

Martin Stanford is a highly underused newsreader on Sky - if anything he should be used as cover for The Live Desk, Afternoon Live and Live at Five, where currently the likes of Matt Smith cover.

Makes commercial sense for Sky, I suppose. Newswheel must save them money and now they have a full-time presenter for it they were already paying - again saving money on the freelancers currently covering it.

Still a huge shame though.

Lets not forget that prior to skynews.com Martin did present the 15 minute updates but crucially he also covered major stories on location. I remember him and Jeremy in Gaza I think when they were virtually under-fire! Martin is fantastic on location.

Disappointed that the Dot Com show is going, I thought it was quite good. On the other hand I am glad Martin is returning to the regular news schedule but the issue is that it is in the 15 minute updates, which I am not a fan of. I think Martin deserves better than them.

I was one of the ones who got the survey about more more more more more entertainment news. I of course said no.

However I expect Sky News to continue it's downward tabloid spiral to foxification.

Sad really. I used to have Sky News on in the background in the same way others would have the radio on. Now I hardly watch at all.

Oh Selina Scott and Scott Chisholm come back all is forgiven.

Cheers,

Henry

Really is baffling that Martin has been treated so badly by Sky in recent years, lets hop he can bring a bit of life to the news wheel bulletins.
