Kay Burley has somehow popped up in the Westminster studio interviewing Peter Mandelson! Wonder woman.

Yes who knows she may be Afternoon Live presenter and Political Editor at the same time someday, asking herself questions and then answering them in a way she only can. With her around who needs a political team and other presenters?

Edit - They still have the awful Sky UK headline bed though.
At least in the "Sky National News". The rest of the bulletins has the new UK bed.

Can't argue with John Ryley's reasoning for giving Joey Jones the new post,

He's a Tory sympathiser, and his "work" during the election, got him his promotion!

He's a Tory sympathiser, and his "work" during the election, got him his promotion!
evidence?
His "analysis" of Cameron in PMQs before the election, the fact he followed the conservative campaign, and how he always favoured Cameron in the Leadership Debate "analysis" despite the public response being different.
I have no evidence that is why he got the promotion, but with ofcom's influence looking weaker with our new tory led government, and Rupert Murdoch and his company looking to take full control of BSkyB, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that his promotion, could be welcome in the current political climate!

Completely disagree with the criticism of Joey, I think he is an impressive reporter and I enjoy his analysis which I found to be fair throughout the election campaign.
Some great reporting from both Niall Paterson and Stuart Ramsey in Afghanistan. As far as the future is concerned I think in Niall and Joey, Sky have two of the finest up and coming political reporters. I presume one of the factors behind Joey's promotion is to develop another face of politics on Sky News. As one poster rightly pointed out during the election campaign Sky were perhaps too reliant on Adam whereas the BBC had a strong pool of well known political 'heavy hitters'. As has also been mentioned Joey's ability to break big stories and have well informed sources is an added benefit.
On another note while they may have taken a bit of getting used to, I think the new style weather bulletins work quite well (not better than the old format but not worse) and I much prefer having them at around :55/56 minutes past than prior to the TOTH.

Are these not just titles that have little meaning in practical terms.
This is pure speculation on my part - but I wonder if they gave him the title to stop him leaving? I think that's happened in the past.
Looks like that may well have been the case,

I would have liked Joey to move into the role as Chief Political Correspondent with Jon Craig taking the Deputy Political Editor. He is vastly more experienced than Joey and he is more of an authoritive figure. I'm sure his role in Sky News will not change though with him sticking to the 7-12 at night time normally.

Sky News bosses heaped praise on Joey Jones who has been promoted to deputy political editor — above older reporter colleagues. Some say he is being groomed to take over from veteran political editor Adam Boulton but might there be a simpler reason? The BBC had approached Jones...
