You really think she should be sacked over this incident?

I think its a usefully high profile moment for her bosses to take advantage of, to get rid of her.

She should be sacked for the totality of her abysmal performance and contribution over many years including the examples you've just given, and more.

That's what I think.

Here she is having a go at talk show host James O'Brien for making similarly insensitive remarks about Frank Lampard's personal life.

"It's not really for us as journalists to make those comments, is it?"

Quite...

Kay Burley did nothing wrong. If Colin Brazier, Lorna Dunkley, Eamonn Holmes or any other presenter had been sat there I'm guessing similar, provocative questions would have been asked. Kay Burley didn't chose to show the clip, editors and managers behind the scenes did. She then went on to say...

"Because we were wondering how you might feel if Alex Reid turns round and says... "

"We" does not mean Kay Burley, it means Sky News and the editorial managers of 'Afternoon Live'. Don't take issue with Kay Burley on this one, take issue with Sky News and what it represents. Why did Sky bosses think it was suitable to have him on anyway? As he said, it was a pre-booked interview - you're not telling me Kay searched through her contacts, phoned Peter Andre and said 'Why don't you come on my show?'.

Frankly it should never have happened because it wasn't news. No part of it. They call themselves 'Sky News'. There's your problem.

Agree completely, it was madness to have him on in the first place. I understand having the odd celebrity guest on Sunrise as it better suits the style of breakfast TV but in truth as a news channel having guests such as Andre is just poor and a further reminder of how far Sky News has fallen. Lets hope the changes to the look/schedule of the HD launch will give the channel a kick in the right direction, unfortunately the current managements record suggests while it might work well on day 1 it will probably disappoint in the long run.

It's a shame because so many of the good elements of SN are still there, good journalists, good studio, some great presenters such as Anna Botting and Martin Stanford, yet the management seem incapable of stringing it all together into a flowing, well run news channel. It just hasn't got the same feel it used to and todays sorry episode is a perfect example of some of what is wrong with Sky News these days.

I am sick and tired of hearing nothing but negativity from Gavin. For years he has complained about one thing and another, and in this case I feel the negativity is unfair.

You don't like Kay Burley, there for she has to be in the wrong.

You say she went too far, and you say the things you do. I do wish I had the ability to block your comments on these forums, It would make my experience here much nicer. So say what you want, but try to remember she is a human being, and doesn't deserve your bile!

Like Peter Andre, I feel better getting that off my chest.

Ouch. It's at moments like this that I like to unwind with an enjoyable Kay Burley clip from the archives.

That exchange was truly shocking on Kay Burleys part and much worse than today in my opinion.
