I'm probably the only one who feels sorry for Kay cause of all the criticism and hatred she's getting on the internet. But I expect her to always ask tough and provoking questions, no matter if she interviews prime minister or a reality TV star.

That should be your first clue, fanboy.

I can't see what Kay has done that was so bad. She merely asked how he would feel if Alex adopted his kids, i think because of the way Peter was shocked at Dwight saying it was disrespectful of Peter adopting Harvey, so I feel she was just trying to even it out, in a bizzare way.

I did think that the tears had come from being shown the clip of what Dwight Yorke said, not much to do with what Kay was saying afterwards, given his initial reaction after the clip has nothing to do with Kay.

Obviously this will be twisted and pulled to suit whichever angle you want to take, including my angle which without sounding big headed is how it played out.

I disagree with your assessment, and Sean, there's a bigger picture to be aware of.

Burley has one ace in a particularly poor journalistic hand.

She's glib and facile most of the time, but intrusive to the point of discomfort at her "peak". She asks what you'd expect the worst of the "red top" newspapers to rhetorically pose in their screaming headlines - but she looks people in the eye when she does it. That's worse, in my view.

Agree with me or not - I respect your point of view - but I wouldn't say what I'm saying unless I was sure I was speaking - to the best of my judgement - completely accurately.

I've watched this woman for years - and I've reached the point where I can't bear her.

It's all about judgement, and hers was very poor today. Yes, ask tough and provoking questions where necessary, but be careful how you phrase them when dealing with issues that are very personal, and know when to move on, particularly if a question misfires. Instead she kept jabbing away with no modicum of sensitivity whatsoever. Indeed, she showed very little compassion until the point he actually called for the interview to stop. The question in particular or the scenario she posed about his kids being adopted was simply inappropriate, especially in those circumstances.

I agree, she was pushing it too far with that suggestion that those 2 might want to take his kids but I doubt she was aiming to make him cry or suffer a break down.

I wonder if his reality crew filmed what happened after, I guess they will have some good material for the show.

Not true. Because she specifically said before she posed the question, "I think one of the reasons we wanted to show you that..." so his surprise at the footage was not why she asked, it was pre-planned.

And then even after his initial emotional response, she was pretty unrepentant when she said "we did warn you we were going to show you that" and then a few moments later she tried again. "So if Katie came home and said Alex..."

If that is not clear evidence of a poor interviewer then I don't know what is!

Forgive me - I do not use Facebook - how unusual is close to 1,000 people joining a group in one day as it seems rather a lot?

These social networking campaigns do have a habit of snowballing.

That's doubtless how she'll explain it away.

Rather like Jan Moir of the Daily Mail did, after her vile piece about the death of Stephen Gately.

I seldom join FB groups.

But I did this one.

I'm not sure, I guess it's a lot for one day but they are probably his die hard fans.
Anyway Kay is getting no love in the comments area of her blog.

You really think she should be sacked over this incident? Sure she didn't come out in the best light but its probably questionable whether there is even any grounds to sack her over this, especially as previous incidents involving her such as the interview with the wife of the Suffolk murder and when she was pictured with her hands around a woman's neck outside court resulted in nothing

Lets be honest there is much more important things going on in the world for people to get up in arms about than Kay Burley upsetting a minor celebrity.
