Yes, agreed - but Tara TV used to show RTE's 6.1 news and late (9.1?) news and that was strangely interesting, despite being very domesticly orientated (is 'domesticly' a word ... mm .. maybe not!)

But BBC News 24 is labelling BBC World News as news from an international perspective. I doubt anyone would want to watch Irish domestic affairs. It has not a lot of international affairs. It would be as weird as putting BBC Newsline on every region in the UK.

RTE's main evening news is at 9pm (RTE News: Nine O'Clock).
I'm not sure people have got yet that Sky News Ireland is really a twice daily programme on Sky News, not a channel of its own right. Like I said before, outside of the two Dublin programmes at 7pm and 10pm, the only difference between Sky News and Sky News Ireland is advertising. The 23 other hours of programming come from Iselworth just like normal Sky News, because it is normal Sky News!
Sky News Ireland is very tabloid compared to RTE or even TV3. There is a lot of political stuff they don't cover. Their network of corspondants is nothing compared to RTE. It is not that domestically oriented at all, once the first few stories are through it is repackaged regular Sky News reports. Worst of all is that weather forecast. It usually comes from Iselworth and rather than generate Irish specific maps they just blow up the segment of the UK and Ireland map that is Ireland. This means that the symbols are rediculously oversized...
It is available on one of the News Active screens for Sky Digital viewers I believe? (I'm a cable viewer so can't really confirm this).
