Interesting to see five will be showing Vote '05 in widescreen according to the Sky EPG. Not listed as widescreen on Sky News.

How they gonna pull that one off then? Stretch and crop on five? Centre-cut for Sky News? And what about those graphics..... or is the EPG just wrong.

Perhaps the confusion lies in the fact that five news (produced by Sky) is usually in widescreen.
Will they be able to produce the programme in widescreen? Is it current sky news set up capable of widescreen broadcasting?

Well if they are coming from the virtual studio, they may have the widescreen equipment. If they are going widescreen with their new look, they should already have some resources ready...

I don't think the new look is coming on election night. They've been trailing it with the graphics they have done especially for Vote '05.

I think it's more likely that the EPG for Five is incorrect.

I don't believe anyone suggested that.

The issue is whether Sky are going to be broadcasting a w/s version for Five, and a 4:3 version for Sky News.

If it is coming from the virtual studio they have supposedly built as part of their new news centre, that wouldn't surprise me, though I have no idea about the technicalities behind it. (noggin?!)

But I'd be quite surprised if they went and launched into their new centre on election night, in any way, virtual or otherwise.

Last time, they had the virtual area that Adam Boulton was in and Martin Stanford in another VR area. I remember Stanford's studio being very loud, sounding as though it was in some way linked to the newsroom. Can't quite work out how that might be the case, though.

Wouldn't be totally unfeasable that Five will get a widescreen version. It would also explain why the election graphics float rather than going to the edges as they would usually.
