Presumably the Election thread and the Sky News thread were just not good enough for this comment...
But then I suppose this forum was created to avoid things getting buried, however unimportant.
Worries me to see the extent to which Sky are courting Five. They are plugging a Five programme as a news story today; it's worse than the Six O'clock News. It is some god awful thing about a teacher filming in a classroom, with the startling news that ''kids today aren't as well behaved as they used to be''. Absolutely glorious to see Martin Stanford skewer Ruth Kelly on Sky News Today with the thing, though. Here's hoping her slightly marginal constituency sees a change of hands.
The Sky trailer for election night coverage looks a little disturbing - you don't exactly see the on-screen layout for the night, but you catch a glimpse of it and it looks a right state. Nothing is lined up. Presumably will be different on the night, though.
Quite a comic little trailer, though, with Boulton sitting in a ballot box. Must be a huge constituency to be able to fit him inside it.

This story was in most of the Sunday newspapers, plus the Mail yesterday. Sky News running the story is nothing to do with their relationship with five; it's a good expose by a teacher with secret footage of the appalling behaviour of unruly pupils in a number of schools across the country.
Do you need a lesson in what makes a news story ?

Not from you.
This isn't the first time it has happened, though. Cannot remember the previous programme, but there was a heavy amount of plugging going on.
I haven't noticed it on any other news today - can't say I've been looking to hard, but regardless.
Can't help thinking that it wouldn't have been their top story at one point in the day if it had been on BBC One, that's all.

Oh really? You know who I am, where I work, what I do, and how long I've done it, do you?

Oh yes it is. I cannot recall any other programme five have made that Sky News - or any other channel for the matter - has used.

So only at 'one point' in the day - that was probably when the pictures were first released and cleared for use. That makes them NEW... one of the important factors in making the word NEWS.
Remember it's Blair and Labour that bang on about education, education, education... The state of our schools is a valid news story, and it's not every day that a teacher is prepared to expose violence, ignorance, abuse, and thuggery in the classroom - with a videotape to prove it!

As much as I like Nick, I am slightly disturbed by how he seems to know random and seemingly anonymous users on this forum.
I'm begining to think that Nick is the head of some secret media mafia!
Nah. He just thinks he is.

..with the end line being "From the ballot box to your box." Hmm. I feel the slogan's lacking a little, but don't really know how I'd improve it.

Interesting to see five will be showing Vote '05 in widescreen according to the Sky EPG. Not listed as widescreen on Sky News.
How they gonna pull that one off then? Stretch and crop on five? Centre-cut for Sky News? And what about those graphics..... or is the EPG just wrong.
