... which a joint venture with Sky News (again) ... sounds like a rebrand.

Was I think. I don't think Sky News UK has any part of Sky News Australia or Sky News Business Australia now. It is joint venture of Channel 9 and News Corp. these days.

Sky News Australia is owned by Australia News Channel, a subsidiary of News Corp (alas why Sky News Oz may rebrand after Comcast take over Sky UK).

The rebrand of the joint venture financial channel between ANC/News Corp and Channel 9 neutralises any future branding issues by using the Sky brand on that channel.

Yeah, since the network is called Foxtel, I wouldn't be surprised to see Sky News Australia rebranded as Fox News.

Wouldn't the "Fox News" brand be toxic in Australia? For instance, I can't imagine it being used anywhere in Europe, which has its own unsavory populists, but where the Fox style of Trumpian conservatism doesn't really fly -- except among insignificant, niche audiences. On the other hand, Australia could be a different matter. I wonder what our Australian members think.

Sky News Australia has a lot of right-wing opinionated commentators and shows which would suit the Fox News brand better than Sky.

Fox News US is also available in Australia, unlike the UK.

But is it as far to the right and as fast and loose with the truth as Fox News, which spreads conspiracy theories and routinely disregards news developments unfavorable to Trump?

Reading the MediaSpy Australia form.... I dont think SkyNews Australia has too many fans anyway. Within the last 6 months they have lost loads of reporters and presenters. Seems like many long timers are jumping ship over the channels conservative slant and its evening opinion programmes. They also broadcast FOX BUSINESS and FOX NEWS US in Australia, so I dont think many people that already watch the channel would be up in arm if it was rebranded as FOX NEWS CHANNEL AUSTRALIA or even FOXTEL NEWS CHANNEL/NETWORK. The channel never has been that popular with posters on that forum.
I'm here to give you something to talk about! You're Welcome.

Here we go again with more anti right wing media, when left wing is perfectly acceptable. Madness.

As I said, Fox News routinely spreads conspiracy theories and disregards news items unfavorable to Trump. Remember how Trump got laughed at at the UN the other day?

There is no left-wing equivalent of Fox News's propaganda machine -- even MSNBC is different in tone and in content. If you want to find comparable "news" outlets, you have to look outside the Western world, to the likes of RT and Press TV.

Yes - if you want to gain a good insight into Fox News - "OutFoxed" is still a very good watch.
