Jo Wheeler on the weather appears to be doing her second shift of the day. She was definitely on Sunrise this a.m. and now she's back again this evening.

Eamonn Holmes is on his summer break now, Chris Roberts covering Sunrise like last year.

I want to know more about the weather reports actually, a few weeks ago I'm sure they changed it, now every report seems recorded and not live. Its as if they just do one weather report at say 05:58 and use that till about 16:58 and then another forecaster takes over to do the night ones!

The weather is definitely not live on Afternoon Live anymore.

It hasn't been live during AL for a while now. The giveaway is that Kay does her walk along the bit next to the newswall showing what's coming up and then a few seconds later Lucy or someone is standing there. They got around this before by using the CSO screen for weather during AL but now it's definitely pre-recorded as you say.

I think the weather is only live now from 6-11 and 5-10 or something like that.

Jo Wheeler has done quite a few shifts like this the past few months. Comes to something when a newschannel can only afford one weather presenter to cover 24 hours.

If any viewers tuned in for more than 30 minutes they would have wondered how she got her hair done and got changed in that time!

I have to say though, I think the Sky News Weather team is very proffessional though, and despite some views I find the weather graphics very clear in what they are saying. I think a return to CSO would be better though. Although its only the weather that gets regular use of the newswall runway these days.

I think the thing with Jo Wheeler is that she lives in Portugal, so she flies over for a few days to work. So she maybe does these shifts to get the hours out of the way?

I see there is now a "Jeff's Judgement" segment on Jeff Randall Live where he gives his opinion on the story being discussed. While I know he regularly does this on the Telegraph,it was slightly concerning that a man who is now classed as a Sky News "presenter" is allowed give his views on air.

I'm guessing it stems from what they do on Fox News with "Common Sense, Talking Points Memo, The One Thing" and so on.

...and the likes of Kay Burley and Adam Bolton never address their personal views on air, do they now!

Another fault with the weather at 4:58pm, began with the Qatar Airways promo sting remaining on air longer than it should have (static). The first slide appeared on the newswall, but the next one wouldn't appear. Francis Wilson left to try and fix it - it sounded like he was going through a box looking for something - but he came back after a few seconds and the newswall went black. A generic background appeared, and the camera zoomed back in on FW.

wonder if he will get in trouble for walking out of shot like that. i know he was trying to fix it, but if the autocue broke down, you wouldn't see the presenter getting up and walking out of shot.

does the weather presenter usually have a clicker at the newswall? i thought someone from the gallery changed the maps for them?

Do they use autocue for the weather?
