Ah ok, I did consider that possibility but felt it odd for news channels to be so sensitive over such matters given some of the content. I guess they must have a clause in the contract which says they are allowed to drop them when the news agenda renders them inappropriate.

Who says it was the broadcasters? Its much more likely to be the airline.

If I were them, I would certainly want to (temporarily) pull my commercial spots from a news channel reporting on a plane crashing - otherwise the viewer will be continually seeing the Qatar brand being associated with reports of a plane going down.

Indeed so. I overlooked that possibility, but it certainly makes a lot of sense.

With regard to The Live Desk, it was certainly a lot better today due to the wealth of breaking news stories, but having watched CNN's The Situation Room last night I did think to myself how much better it could be.

Like the way they are allowing Adam to answer criticism of his opinions by Labour MP's. It makes for great viewing.

An exchange with Northern Ireland secretary Shaun Woodward MP just got rather heated when the subject of G20 came up. Adam's rant in full:

"Listen, I covered it. I'm fed up with hearing about the G20 summit, and how brilliant it was for Gordon Brown. I covered that summit. Yes, he played a significant part; there were also the Chinese there, there was Barack Obama there. It was not a Gordon Brown triumph. And if you look at the comments of the other leaders, yes he was commended, but he didn't run the show and in fact going into it both he and Barack Obama wanted a second stimulus. There wasn't a second stimulus. So where was this great triumph?"

Oh I do wish he'd get off the fence!
