Saturday Live was awful this morning. It wasn't even Saturday Live. All the usual features such as the paper review and Saturday Sport were shelved. I'm not against them covering Jade's funeral, but I think 4 reporters, 1 presenter, the Skycopter and at least three quarters of each hour devoted to the event probably equates to excessive coverage.

Have Sky recently had a shake up of foreign correspondents...

Steve Dixon just referred to Alex Rossi as "Sky's Europe Correspondent".

Yeah I see that Tasmin introduced him as Europe Correspondent. I am not sure, but if it is true that he is partner to Anna Botting, then he may want to be nearer her in London now?
It will be interesting to see that if he is still with Sky News, will be assigned overseas or at home?

leaving aside the rights and wrongs of covering Jade Goody's funeral, I thought Lorna Dunkley was actually quite poor at filling time and talking over the pictures, even if it was a thankless job. in fact, she's often found wanting when it comes to live interviews and breaking news imo.

Lorna is quite good at breaking news. The differance with her is she will let the pictures run and not make up Kay Burly style hyperbole. However tacky the event and coverage it still was a funeral, so did not call for for every second to be filled with newstalk.

Also remember that Sky producers are forced to recap whole key sections every 10 minutes for people just joining - it may not be as noticabe with rolling coverage as in the newswheel but it is still forced in the format.

A good decision. Amanda is an impressive journalist and always comes across well.

I was in two minds about the Jade Goody coverage. Yes, we could have seen the pictures of the coffin going into the church maybe, as the BBC showed, but broadcasting the whole of the ceremony WAS a bit too much. Although I found it quite interesting to watch, I felt there were a lot of other stories going on which Sky could have picked up on in that space of time.

Lorna was great I thought, and I realised she herself seemed a bit upset over the funeral when she read out the letter from Bobby & Freddie, her voice shook and she stayed quiet for a while before carrying on.

Also, I noticed Jayne Secker presenting NSW yesterday, she hasn't got a voiceover yet either. She was good though, its nice to see some presenting faces that we actually know, instead of all these young nobodies. The only one I rate out of them are Sasha Twining and Charlotte Hawkins.

She has. But there are no voiceovers/namechecks on NSW slots anymore.

I agree wholeheartedly about Sasha Twining. Killer smile, very warm, likeable, and highly capable as well.

Have Sky News completely and utterly lost the plot?!

How on earth they thought it was proper to dedicate four hours of airtime to cover, in the style of a state funeral, the funeral of a foul-mouthed, thick, ignorant, racist pig is completely beyond me.

Especially when there was far more important news going on yesterday.

And to see the amount of people that turned out for the procession merely underlines that this country is clearly populated by demented morons.

May she rot in hell.

And as I asked you on Digital Spy which you still haven't answered.

What exactly did Jade do for you to feel so much hatred towards the poor girl?

I think you're disgusting.

OK I disagree with the coverage and so do most other people, but any person with any good sense of morality would not wish cancer on anyone who hasn't done that much wrong, let alone death. She isn't exactly a psycho axe murderer is she? That says more about you than Jade imo and makes you just as bad as the "foul-mouthed, thick, ignorant, racist pig".
