I assume some cable providers who take the international version insert their own ads into the breaks and need to know the precise moment they're coming.
Do Sky send a breaking news "alert" to these broadcasters so they know not to insert a break when there is breaking news on and therefore no breaks on Sky News UK.
Or do they just suddenly come on the coverage for international viewers, I remember in the past CNNI used to say "some cable operators may leave us soon for a break" when they had breaking news.

For the love of God...
Anybody with a single ounce of intelligence can surely see that any policy that exists towards breaking news coverage (believe me it does) is both fluid and lenient allowing production and executive staff to make a decision on a story-by-story basis.
The very notion that S-J Mee being seen behind Mark some how confirms that sky news WILL WITHOUT FAIL be single headed in the event of breaking news is naive and foolish.

Read the above, and take note of just how vague all of that is. Now, of course it is fair to say behind closed doors regulations will be much tighter, and the above is as much a document of publicisation as it is guidelines. The point remains however, that a single page can be the simple moderating entity behind an entire 24 hour news channel.
Somebody referred to wanting sombody less 'camera shy' earlier - I think it was Worzel. The fact is that the production team, taking cues from Mr Ryley and his associates, had clearly agreed that S-J Mee or anybody else for that matter could not add anything further to the breaking news coverage, considering the very fact that they already have one of the most seasoned, experienced and personable presenters on the air.
By introducing another party to the coverage of a comparatively linear breaking news story you run the risk of disrupting this. If you do not think that a news channel of some 20 years is not significantly well versed to make such a decision then you sir, you are a, numpty.
Rant over.
Hello again everybody.

Plenty where that came from on SkyNews.com online each weekday, while the TV viewers are on ads.
Jane Secker doing some presenting this afternoon and presumably she also did the headlines on Sunday Live. She's very very good, hope she gets a permanent slot.
Really missing Paula Middlehurst now, can't wait for her return.
