Sky News has turned back on its old cr@p ways it seems. Shame, last week they had the promise of being in the same [or even higher] league than BBC News Channel.
Lets just hope its because of half term week, and things will return to how they were on the first week of relaunch. Let's not forget Sky's journalism has improved dramatically since its stint of filling its schedule with 'real life' tabloid bullcock. They now have the opportunity to beat the pants of the rivals presentation, the fact is they do for a week and then give up!
I knew it was inevitable after showing off the new set for a bit they'd get stuck in a routine, but didn't expect it to happen so quickly, especially with Afternoon Live. Anyone know the reasons - I know Kay had complained about the new island desk, but there must be more to it than that.
... you going to say why its turning crap? Just because a few presenters are off? hmm
The presenters, although important, need the set to create the full discourse, if walking about the newswall, it would be expected to be quite fast paced and interactive...if at desk, hard hitting news and analysis. Its just dull at the moment, no interesting presentation features that make Sky News the exciting format it was a few weeks back.
Do you think somethings going on with Sky News? Presenters do seem very varied at the moment, more than a usual half term week, are they trying out new things?
Is Afternoon Live referred to that by Kay at all during the programme? Ive always said that Afternoon Live and Sky Today should just been known as Sky News, as its basically the same anyway. Cleans up the schedule a bit aswell. Good move on that one!
Also, why does sometimes, the weather presenter is seen hanging around at the right of the newswall after the TOTH headlines? Are they waiting there because they have to walk through the studio or something and don't want to get in the way?

On The Live Desk if you watch closely you normally see the business presenter walk off in the background once they've done their bit. I also saw Andy Wilson walking about during The Live Desk earlier, a good few hours before his shift.

They might want to exit the studio which might be on the left handside of the newswall or in that area - which would mean walking accross the newswall (instead of walking round the whole set?) so wait until the TOTH is done.

I would agree that having AL and Sky Today under the same format would make sense, but I think that it should not be a format that involves the whole thing being done from the desk. I would love to see both Dermot and Kay's summary presenter become more involved in the programmes. Perhaps a good way to give the new 'young guns' experience could be for them to act as apprentice like co-presenters for Kay and Dermot.
