I just don't understand this inconsistency. What are all of those anchors doing with so many breaks and holidays. It's like they can't work 2 full weeks without someone going on a break. It's not like they have some other shows to do or something in the production.

With all due respect - its none of your damned business what hours or days presenters work, or the arrangements they are contracted to.

You could be forgiven for asking who presents what and when, if you were exercising your curiosity - but that kind of "outrage" about the shift patterns of professional broadcasters makes you look like an absolute fool.

They owe you NOTHING, remember.

To be fair though after a revamp you would expect them to keep the hosts in their regular slots for a few weeks at least to let it bed in a bit.

This is the problem I had with Sky News when I first got Freeview - the presenters seemed to be forever changing so it never really established itself as worth watching. The October 2005 improved things on that score, but as said why move Colin Brazier about the schedules while The Live Desk is still trying to establish itself in the schedule.

Love the new opening shot to NSW tonight. I don't feel that NSW is soo bad now, since the new set and new presenters. Its got more of a news rush to it now, probably because more people in the background and the live gallery.

Besides Gavin's very fair comments, news channels ALWAYS have this sort of schedule upheaval during school holidays and half-term, so I don't know why everyone's behaving as if it's a new thing.

Sky Sports News is always moving their presenters around, yet I don't see them having a problem. The problem is whenever you tune into Sky News, you are getting the news differently. Sunrise is different from Today, from Live Desk, from Afternoon Live, from NSW and Sky News at Ten. Too complicated.

Its only Live at Five, Sky Newsat Ten, Sky News Overnight where you can get a proper Sky News bulletin now. Everything else is just drivel and a mess.

perhaps the revamp might have been better schedules away from half term but I think they were also trying to hit the birthday.

That said I took more exception to the tone of the post, the how dare the presenters not be in fixed slots attitude. boo hoo frankly.

While accepting issues such as school holidays, and also the fact that certain presenters could have other commitments, or even simple things like doctors appointments, Im surprised Sky havent managed to be a bit more consistent. Last week for example The Live Desk/Live at 5 and Sky News at 10 were all over the place presenter wise. Would it have been that hard to be consistent on two shows and put all the presenters working odd days (such as Gillian just doing an extra Monday) on the other show, limiting the inconsistency

Lets hope this week is a bit more consistent. We know Colin Brazier is doing Jeff Randall Live all week so thats a start. And if Anna Botting sticks to Sky News Today all week then theres already more a more consistent feel

Obviously things cant be consistent all the time, and when there are school holidays especially naturally presenters will be all over the place. Its just that things, from an outsiders perspective, seem to be more all over the place than they need to be

Doubt it. Looks like Mark Longhurst has bizarrely replaced Charlotte Hawkins halfway through her NSW slot. I'm guessing he's doing News at Ten, etc.

clearly it was or it wouldn't have happened.

do you complain to the manager in tesco if tracey from the bakery is on inconsistent shifts too?

I thought most people would have liked to see presenters doing different slots for a change, and giving some lower listers the chance to present something more higher up?

Is there a big interview coming up? Such changes did happen around Christmas/New Year when there was the fighting in Gaza and a big interview around 8/9 o'clock?

Indeed, and it's very nice to see people like Charlotte and Gillian do something other than read headlines.

But taking say Samantha, last week she did the Live Desk, Sky News at 10 and Saturday Live. For her weekday work, could Sky have kept her in the same slot all week. Maybe she couldnt do that for whatever reason. But surely Lorna, Samantha, Chris etc didnt all have commitments that meant they had to present at least two different shows in a week?

Any way isnt this debate going round in circles now? I think everyone has made their point and its perhaps best to move on
