I was wondering if they were going to have anything with the desk positioned with the newswall backdrop behind, as it always used to be, and the answer is yes - Sunday Live.

Nice little ending for Sunrise, with the whole team - Mark at the desk, Gillian, Nick and Denise on the sofa.

Not seen that at weekends before. Unlike weekdays, at weekends normally only the sport presenter appears at the end

I think the weather on Sky is one of it's weakest links really, especially when done from the newswall. Everytime they show a forecast I never feel like I get any useful information out of it.

Probably because SKY News allocate such a small amount of time to the weather. I mean the .58 forecast is only about 1 minute 30 seconds long and it's hard for them to incorporate too much detail in that. On BBC News it varies but often they are around 3 minutes long.

Not really - both ITV's and C4's forecasts are often less than a minute, but I always get a view of what the weather will be like here tomorrow out of them.

I think the main problem with the weather graphics is that they're quite hard to decipher. The cloud looks similar to rain sometimes, and the rain looks like snow - it all looks a bit messy.

Yep, the graphics are very poor IMO - and it doesn't help that the presenter doesn't seem to guide you around them - they're too busy walking away from the newswall talking to the camera, often obscuring the graphics even further.

1630-1800 was a special Bafta programme with Live at 5 not starting until 6 (at least that's what my tv's EPG said). Caught a glimpse of Steve Dixon at about 6.45

Nah, Live at Five started at 5 as normal. Steve was on with the headlines from 5. Andrew said something like "let's get the news out of the way" when handing over to Steve which sounded ruder than it was probably intended.

Yes, they've interviewed one of their reporters a couple of times this morning

Did the 1:58 weather come from the 103" plasma? Note the edges around the top and right in this cap

Don't think so. It's certainly not a CSO but then I don't think Lucy to be able to present from the 103" without showing the edges of the screen.

Yep. It comes from there to accommodate Kay at the Newswall for TOTH.

that really looks horrible, do they not have a CSO they could use?

Yep, up in the weather office, it's the same position as the one they used during the recent works. On a day to day basis it is used to record summaries for active and online.

The map is so much clearer there though than on the newswall. Earlier you could only make out the North of Scotland on it - England and Wales just got lost, and the forecaster walking too and from camera doesn't really help guide you through it.
