Good to see the CBS News on Sky News for once (don't know about recently but last year anytime I wanted to watch it for some reason they deemed to drop it!). Wanted to see how they were covering the Volcanic Ash story and was quite surprised they led with it. Don't know if they covered the debate at all - it wasn't in the headlines and I didn't stick with it beyond the ash story.

Also when did it get it's new look?

Correct me if I'm wrong but CBS News is on every night at 12.30am is it not? I really enjoy watching it actually, hope we get the HD version when we have Sky News HD.

It's scheduled every night at 12.30am. I've not been watching Sky News that late in recent months so don't know how regularly it airs at the moment, but about a year or so ago they seemed to be dropping it more often than they screened it, often on days where there would be a big story which means it would be interesting to see how the US are covering it.

As of late, it's hardly been on at all. If you check Sky's schedule change mini-site (I forget the link) the edits for Sky News contain dropping CBS News almost every time.

That was so they could record the full hour of news from 12 until 1 and playout the recording from then until 6

And the schedules only appear on that site when they change - so the most common change Sky News make is to go to pre-recorded bulletins overnight, and they do that around once a month. Hardly dropping the bulletins all the time.

Yep

Makes sense to be back in the studio today. BBC News looks a bit pointless remaining at an empty airport.

Very creative of Sky News indeed!!! With the airspace south of Iceland closed and all of Sky's correspondents based out of the UK (not to mention ITN's and BBC's as well), and given that it's not possible (or wishful) to head to Iceland in a dinghy, they were very clever in flying Greg out of New York (I assume on Icelandair's direct daily Boeing 757 flight) to Reykjavik to anchor live coverage from the scene!!! Well done indeed.

If the BBC, ITN and CNNI wish to follow suit by getting an anchor to the scene, and in view of the current airspace restrictions, they would all need to send one of their US based correspondents.

CNN's Aviation Correspondent (Richard Quest) is currently in New York as well, as opposed to his usual London newsdesk. Wonder if they'll fly Questie out to Iceland too??

He's in Iceland? That was the irony of course, Iceland's airport remained open!

Edit: well done Sky.
