JT's having a bit of fun at Manchester Airport I think!

He has just held up a bag of white powder (he claims it is volcanic ash) on Sky News. I expect the security at Manchester airport to surround him any moment now.

He sounds very surprised by Dermot Murnaghan. Thanks for capping.

How will Sky's "special" programme be any different to the coverage they've knocked-out all day long?

There's a whiff of sour grapes about the way Sky News is reacting today. They campaigned for a Leader's Debate stressing it would be good for democracy, yet now they seem to be talking it down (anything to do with the fact it's on ITV?).

The Ash Cloud has rightly dominated daytime coverage today...but it's not 7/7 and doesn't require special programming.

It's a major story, and surely having a special programme on it is better than News,Sport,Weather which was originally scheduled.

Nothing against Kay Burley but the lack of her presence today, and to have JT and Dermot on location all day has been a breath of fresh air.

I'm guessing there is some sort of blackout around the debate - I know they can't do "breaking news", so I'm guessing they can't report on it at all until it's ended - which makes sense really. Hence why they go for the ridiculously long special about planes remaining on the ground!

As for the debates - I'm not sure who is luckier to be involved - the Lib Dems or Sky News! Both are token gestures really, though the latter to keep Murdoch happy I'm sure.

I imagine Sky might pad it out with some of the Air Crash Investigation reconstruction of the plane Eric Moody flew through an Ash Cloud before.

yeah i know, all adam b seemed to be doing was making digs at it - he even said about the audience members that "we hope to be looking after our audience better next week - not even getting biscuits or tea" I know it was a joke but still think it was a bit of a dig - proberly annoyed that Sky wasn't having the 1st one! With ITVs commitment to news I think they are the lucky ones to be involved.

Does anyone know who decided who would have which debate? I hope sky got what they wanted this was originally their own idea, and had been pushing for it months before the BBC and itv got a foot in. Sorry if that has allready been discussed but were Sky forced to work with the BBC and itv with the debates? Because I'm sure at one point It was just going to be sky.
also sorry if my typing is bad , on the iPhone.

I saw somewhere that it was a toss of a coin.
I personally have never seen a three sided coin but hey ho.
