Adam doing the papers again tonight, not leaving much for Anna to do (an hour including Sportsline plus the midnight news)

Poor Mark Longhurst did his sixth Sunrise in a row this morning. It would have made more sense to have Anna on Sunrise this week and for the NSW presenter to stay on til 12.30.

Poor Mark Longhurst? Poor Mark Longhurst? I'm sure there are far worse things than presenting a three hour programme six times in a row?!

That in itself is not the issue. It's the 3.30am starts that must be the killer. Six of those in a row. Would be for me anyway!

Try working 10 hour shifts, 10 days in a row (or more). Been done by myself quite a few times recently, and many other working with "normal" jobs up and down the country.

I know we're feeling sorry for Mark, but it's Adam that's really putting in the hours at the minute. Hes been on since this morning and is still broadcasting now. Its going to be a long 4 weeks for him!

Mark L keeps getting relegated to weekend slots, I'm sure he's happy just to be getting air time Smile .

Worth noting the only day Adam isn't actually presenting a show will be Saturdays, and there will be 2 on Sundays with the Boulton Factor running Sunday-Thursday.

I'm sure he and many other senior journalists across the main channels will get rewarded with some extended leave later in the year.

I would say the reporters with the toughest jobs are those on the campaign trails with the leaders, who essentially will do little more than repeat the same speech in numerous locations over the next few weeks, but the reporters will have to try and find a new angle on it each day.

What amazes me on here is that people forget some pretty basic things:

Arrow Many people work far longer, harder shifts far more for far less than many of those we see on screen - including many off-screen, as well as many other industries and occupations.

Arrow The ones we see working long hours on screen have ultimately chosen to - nobody forced them to sign a contract asking them to work six day shifts beginning at 3:30am

Arrow They may well enjoy it, or even have agreed to it - nobody becomes as senior as Adam Boulton without loving politics. It might well be that working 9+ hour days six days a week make the next month far more exciting, challenging and pleasing for him than the following four years.

Stop feeling sorry for these people and instead rate them on if they're doing a good job, or even return to the presentation side - the ultimate point of this forum.

I think this seems to suggest that they have hit delays with the studio. This OB from Westminster doesn't add to the coverage now, there's not much happening in Westminster from now on. The leaders aren't there, and from this afternoon onwards, the MPs will be drifting from Westminster too. By Monday, there aren't any MPs, so surely Afternoon Live will have to come from the studio...or, most probably actually, a 'swing seat' in the back and beyond.

On the road today, I believe.

It appears Sky have cut halfway through a report so that they can get to Brown's speech in Central London. Watching Online at the moment, and have to say the quality of the stream is great.
