They review the campaign. I don't understand how Sky is allowed to begin their election programme while the polls are still open.
Indeed, the only thing you can report about the election on election day itself is people voting. Campaigning and coverage finishes at midnight and for 22 hours we get an oasis of proper news
Kay in Westminster again, I'm not entirely sure how the OB is meant to enhance the election coverage this early on, but I suppose it beats the temporary studio.

Was Dermot in Westminster earlier on?
No Dermot was in the studio. I think it makes sense to do Afternoon Live on location, the format dosen't suit Studio B.

No both Dermot and Colin Brazier presented from the studio with the fire in Southampton leading the news. Adam Boulton has been live from Westminster since 9 this morning.
Another long day for Mr Boulton then! Oh well, I'm sure he's being adequately recompensed.
The TOTH v/o was rather odd, "This is Sky News, with Kay Burley, live, in Westminster", no mention of Afternoon Live again. I presume these voiceovers are made up of segments of speech rather than one pre-recorded phrase?

Yes, they're segments. Slightly different phrasing from yesterday's TOTHs, I believe.
I think there is a virtue to them being on location for being around to grab politicians for interviews whilst they're still in Westminster before Parliament dissolves. I expect after that, there will be more focus on swing seats and getting back into the studio. And despite other criticisms one may have, Kay is pretty decent on location these days.
Newswall looked superb on a piece Martin just did on a potential hung parliament, they managed to get almost all of it in shot by zooming out quite a bit with the jib low on the floor. Hope that explanation makes sense!

Yeah, the quality of the newswall looks a lot better. I think they have 'upgraded' it in some form.
Am i right in thinking that the mixing is been done on location?. Between the 2 or 3 cameras they have. When crossing between cameras for interviews the fades seem to be weird, and some very slow, as if It is on auto fade.
Also just realised, the second camera which they are using for close ups in interviews seems to be giving a strange output. a more film like look, lower frame rate?
