Can't believe they have gone back to using the newswall for the weather. Sad

It looked so much better on CSO.

Sky very kindly put a temperature exactly on Valencia, where I live.

However, when they use the small CSO weather map, the presenter almost invariably stands in front of the eastern coast of Spain and it's only if they move to the side I can see the temperature!!

No problems when they present from the newswall.

I also think she would not like being on while folk were watching the soaps and local news etc. Kay Burley enjoys a good share of audience with her current show.

Absolute b**llocks. The afternoon show gets far less viewers than L@5....or Sunrise...or several other slots on Sky News.

Steve Dixon's website says Sky News at 10 on a Saturday is one of the most watched shows

I am merely quoting an insider at Sky News. While I do not have the stats myself - I will believe them over you.

I presume it's because Saturday is the one night of the week where there isn't a main news at 10pm on BBC One or ITV1.

Probably a stupid question but am I right in thinking that the newswall background gets darker in the evenings? It seems to be a darker blue now than earlier.

Really interesting article. From Julie Etchingham's piece you almost get the impression that she would come back to Sky,not gonna happen I know but nice to see she has nothing but good words for the channel.

Looking at the ratings on BARB it's all a bit random really, with only Live at Five consistently in the top ten. Some weeks even bulletins from after midnight make it, though I guess alot depends on when news breaks.

Re: Julie Etchingham - it's been widely reported that she has (allegedly) had to fork out her own air fare to be part of the US Election and Inauguration coverage, and really Sky News is probably now the only place where she could be at the heart of the story as a presenter, rather than a correspondent. Not too long ago though we were talking about names who could join C4 News if and when Jon Snow stepped down, and Julie's name didn't crop up - though it's something that would probably really suit her actually.

I have just caught a glimpse of former Sky News overnight man Kevin Owen, anchoring the news on a channel called "RT" in Moscow! I had no idea he was still on screen.

I think he normally anchors the weekday evening shift on Russia Today, IIRC.

The 103 inch plasma looked like it was playing up this morning. Either that or a dodgy connection. There was a slight flicker on it now and again. Caught the end of the newspaper review when it seemed worst.
