Some interesting stuff there. Quite ambitious to have joint presentation from London, Fife, Witney and Sheffield on election night, but they made it work in the US so should be easier here. I imagine Adam will be holding things together from London.

Little mention of what there will be through the campaign apart from the debates. No swing seat this time it seems, although perhaps Andrew Wilson will be out and about similar to yesterday.

Am I right in saying Charlotte's bits aren't coming from the newswall, like Martin's weren't at the beginning of yesterday? Seems very grainy, the floor looks unreal and there isn't any hum that I am accustomed to hearing at the newswall.

The Election Live Desk is pretty much the same as the normal
Live Desk, not really revolving on the election. And to so with it, is Colin coming from Studio B or is he in the main studio. The backdrop seems to be dfferent, and with no TOTH pans, I can't tell.

Debate will be in HD
So will election night
Sky News HD will be on Sky 517

Kay will be 'with Adam' for the debate and with the PM on election night
JT will be with Cameron and will also be taking Live at Five on the road for each of the debates
Anna Botting live with Clegg on the night
Dermot live from Westminster

Eamonn will also be taking Sunrise on the road to each of the debate cities as well.

Interesting stuff. So we'll definitely have Sky News HD by the 22nd at the latest.

I guess Kay will be presenting the debate preview at 7:00 and the post-debate analysis from 9:30-midnight.

As usual for Sky, the Election Night coverage will start at 9 o'clock and as already mentioned, it's very interesting to see that they're going for the same approach as they had for the US election, with presenters dotted around the country. It also says that the exit poll will be, for the first time, a joint poll between the BBC, ITV and Sky. Dermot and Eamonn will be presenting from 6am.

Finally, this looks very very nice:

Has there been any news on why Sky were not ready for yesterday?

I know there has never been any sort of announcement that it was all go yesterday but it is very unlink Sky to go into a huge news period not fully prepard - must make things a more difficult to be in a small sub studio.

It's not as if they didn't know this was coming. Just seems very unlike Sky.

Press release summarising Sky coverage. I'll also post it in the election thread:

First UK News Channel to Broadcast a Leaders’ Debate in HD

The 2010 election is likely to be the closest, most exciting in recent years and Sky News will be there every step of the way, taking viewers, listeners, mobile and web users right to the heart of the action with its multimedia coverage, as well as broadcasting the first Leaders’ Debate in HD on a UK news channel.

The Leaders’ Debates, championed by Sky News from the outset, will set this election apart from those of previous years, completely transforming the landscape of election campaign coverage.

John Ryley, Head of Sky News, said: “Sky News’ non-stop coverage; on air, online, on mobile, on radio and via social media, will give our customers the sharpest, information rich, picture-led service on offer.”

So there won't be Sky News HD by the 22nd then?

It says the debate will be HD as a taster for Sky News HD, which is 'to come'.

I assume they'll be ready by May 6th though.

Yeah, I just noticed that too. Although it also says the debate will be in HD on channel 517, so the channel will be there on the EPG, but possibly won't yet be full-time.

The election night will definitely be HD. Whether the full HD channel launches before or after then, we'll have to wait and see...!

On Thursday April 22nd The Sky News Debate, chaired by Adam Boulton, will be broadcast live in HD on channel 517 from the South West of England. In the second of the historic Leaders’ Debates, partly themed around International Affairs, the three main party leaders will share the same platform to be quizzed by Sky News viewers on election issues. Airing 2000 – 2130, the debate will give viewers a taste of HD ahead of the much-anticipated launch of Sky News HD.

Presumably then we will just get the debate in HD on the 22nd then, with full HD channel launch to follow??

They seem very keen not to commit to a fixed date. I'd agree that it seems unlikely that it was their intention to be in Studio B at the start of such a busy news period, perhaps there was some sort of delay. I guess the channel will be on the EPG etc. by the 22nd but not necessarily a full time channel at that stage, wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't full time until after the election.

Ruth Barnett not giving anything away

Afraid I'm can't divulge anything about that... Will keep everyone posted when I can though.

The election night line up sounds impressive though, nice to see them try something different.

It sounds to me like it will be previewed in HD on the 22nd, and then launch on May 6th.

They review the campaign. I don't understand how Sky is allowed to begin their election programme while the polls are still open.
