Samantha Simmonds just did a news round-up, still in Studio B in front of the green screen.

Surely it would be better having it called "Election Desk"?

Wonder why they can use the newswall but not the rest of the main set?

On another note not sure I like the idea of Jeff Randall playing such a key role in the election coverage.

Why?

Just seen a new TOTH introduction, the "Flying" Sky News logo is now over the Election format, with the stylish shapes that appear out of the white background. If that makes sense. Razz

A slight change to the TOTH, the blue horizon now replaced with the jagged coloured blocks.

I don't find him to be as impartial as Sky's other staff. Not really sure why they are dropping SkyNews.com either, for what is supposed to the first real 'internet election' while persisting with NSW from 8 to 10.

Strange that they are doing the sport now on a day when surely most of the people tuning in will want news of the election being called. On a more positive note Dermot and the team doing a great job in Westminster. There able to break news quicker online now as well with the Twitter feed being integrated into the ticker at the top.

It could be my TV, but I think the newswall is green-screened, look how pixellated it is towards the grey line!

I know it was earlier this morning when Martin was going through the timeline but since he's been doing the pieces about the hung parliament I'm sure that hes back at the main newswall.

I don't have a cap from the hung parliament bit yet but above is the one from this morning

I was under the impression that the piece where Martin went through the polls was the main/actual newswall but that the piece Charlotte did featuring virtual graphics was in Studio B.

EDIT: Martin is on the main set now.

Agreed that it was Studio B this morning but currently they're using the newswall - you can see people walking along the upstairs balcony.

There is further use of a new font I think on the information panels about each constituency, such as was used with Andrew Wilson in Waveney earlier.
