Just seen the main news desk with all the lights turned off as the TOTH camera zoomed in on Mark Longhurst.
Doesn't look like there'll be much action on that desk for a while.

I guess it takes a while to switch the lights back on...

Haha, no, it just looks like they won't be using the main desk for a while because they're was no lights, no cameras ready by it except the Sunrise desk cameras. The Sunrise "box" was the only part of the studio that they panned over that was lit, or had any action near it.

Lets take this point by point: No Lights on the desk- not difficult to switch them back on relatively quickly
No cameras- well that's because they were being used for Sunrise- all areas of the studio use the same cameras which are remote controlled so can be moved into position in the space of an ad break

Only part of the studio that was lit- recently they've been turning the lights off above the newswall walkway, does that mean they weren't going to be using it any time soon... No, they turned them on when they needed them and used the area again the next day.

Had any action near it...?- well what do you expect when they're presenting from a different part of Sky centre? When Sunrise is broadcasting normally, do you expect to see Dermot sitting at the desk ready for SNT or Colin standing on the island ready for the Live Desk.

If the sunrise set is available, why don't they use that for all their programmes? Live Desk could come from the side of the set where sky record interviews, Afternoon Live and .com could join up the sofas and everyone else use the desk

Because if they're rehearsing, the cameras won't be available, and there will be lots of noise in the studio. It's unlikely they will be doing the rehearsals 24 hours a day, and the main studio is probably available for the time Sunrise is on air, but for most of the day it will be busy.

Also how would they rehearse in the Soft Set

What a way to return! Good to hear Lorna is being used on the big night. Hopefully with Adam in the studio.

I read another forum that if you listen to the Audio Channel Lineup on Sky (Ch 996), it is stating Sky News +1 on channel 517

Why would they put that on there? Shocked

Isn't it just a holder channel for HD?

Gotta love the slight eccentricity of Peter Spencer! Being a holiday weekend, not sure who today's anchors were (the bulletin I saw was presented by the guy we would normally see on the Red Carpet at movie premieres, etc), said anchor was interviewing Spencer who was over at the Westminster studio. Subject was Labour's naff election poster featuring David Cameron in a bow tie. Theme of the discussion was just how much the average British member of public even knew or cared about the entire episode and if they understood the subtle message labour was trying to get across.

To get his point across, Spencer did a faux interview with himself pretending that he was approached by a member of the GBP asking "if he was that bloke off the telly that did the weather".

Only, Peter also did the voices and slipped into an almost Carol McGiffin-esque brilliant cockney accent for one side of the lengthy exchange, whilst using his usual normal voice for the other side of the exchange.

Hilarious. Would love to see Boulton or Robinson attempting the same.
