To add to that Colin Brazier and Adam Boulton (who is in America) weren't on this week.

Martin Stanford has also been away for some of this week, being covered by Matt Smith on SkyNews.com.

Found an online version of the article in December's Sky mag where John Ryley mentions the HD side panel, there isn't a huge amount of new info but thought I would post it anyway,

Hope it isn't permanently on-screen obstructing what will hopefully be crystal clear pictures, would defeat the purpose then IMO.

He does say that it will be used at certain points - not all the time.

Broadcast tests? I'm not sure if any test broadcast's will be aired to the mainstream? I know they did screen tests towards the end of last year internally on the set, graphics, and presenters.

I wonder will sky news get a new opener, or just edit the old one

Probably just edit the old one

Unfortunately, Sky use the 29500 symbol rate for all their HD channels, which can't be tuned in manually on a Sky HD box. We'll have to wait until it appears on the EPG.

Sky have recently opened a new HD transponder (12460H) and a new HD channel currently labelled 9020 started testing last Wednesday. That may be for Sky News HD.

Probably not newsworthy, but Tim Marshall is on Sunday Live today.
