Oh look, a party political broadcast on behalf of Gloria De Piero and the Labour party.

"GMTV has lost a great asset."
I wish Sky would lose an asset that grates!!!

Sky News HD appears on the EPG, but broadcasting an upconverted version of the SD channel until the election is offically called and Sky News HD proper launches.

I can't seen them wanting to launch an upconverted channel even if it is only for a matter of days. Imagine the viewers who have HD but are not regular Sky News viewers tuning it to the new HD channel that has appeared on the EPG only to be disappointed by the picture quality. There will be enough upconverted stuff as it is.

I'm not sure the election is the best time to launch HD anyway. I'd launch it at 7pm with a skynews.com special and Martin Stanford in full geek mode showing off the new HD cameras.

You can tell the Gurkin set is all set up for HD, lighting and picture quality is significantly better than the likes of Millbank. Very sharp!

Why the changed the Jeff Randall titles to just a slowed arial shot of the building and kept the music so long is beyond me. Marked improvement with a less brash and more of a gradient to make it dark red though.

Via derek500, a poster on DS, apparently a reliable poster on the AV forums says the launch date is set for March 22nd

Has Sasha Twining left? Haven't seen her on screen for AGES. Big shame if she has because I thought she was a real talent.

She's LBC's business correspondent now, regularly appearing on James Whale's drivetime show.

I think she does stuff for Sky News Radio as well

There appears to have been trimming of freelancers in recent months, particularly on daytime hours. I guess she is one victim of this.

does anyone know if paula middlehurst is freelance? I only ask because she doesn't appear on the presenter biographies list and only very rarely gets to present any bulletin other that the 15 minute summaries. Also does anyone know for certain if there will be any schedule changes with the launch of sky news HD?

Looking through the format (http://www1.sky.com/news/Format.doct) that has been agreed by the broadcasters for the leaders debates, it mentions that one of the members of the selection panel for Sky News is "Executive Producer, The Boulton Factor". So it looks like that programme will indeed return for the election.

LOL Sky are going to find it very difficult to keep to this one...

75. Breaking News straps will not be put over live coverage of the debate. On news channels (Sky News, BBC News channel), the scrolling news tickers will offer other news but will not cover breaking news lines from the debates while the debates are taking place.

On a more serious note, I see Hannah Thomas-Peter is listed as a politics producer but I thought her field was health?
