Some tweaks for 20 Years of Breaking News first aired at Midnight. Some wooshes added to the TOTH music too as it transitions into the studio

Really enjoyed the press preview, not sure about the need for a "20 years" wipe in between every headline though.
However, what a day it has been for Sky News, the studio is just brilliant and maybe it's just me but it felt as though the presenters were told to interact more, there seemed to be banter and discussions between all the sport, news and news summary presenters. JT,for example joking about the new desk with John and saying that he swears in a similar way to that Christian Bale video all the time in the office. Perhaps Im reading too much into it(probably am!)but if Sky can be as good every day as it has been today then John Ryley and co. are heading in the right direction.

Surely you just pop upstairs to the dead area behind the tea bar where the picture hangs and have a look

Hello all. Long time no see.
... out of interest, does anyone remember way back in 2005 the leaked artists' impression of the new Sky News Centre?
Methinks the new desk looks VERY similar to what was designed back then...?
Mdta? Any recollection?!

Seems they can't decide whether to have the 20 Years strap in Helvetica or Arial.

I read somewere someone said the new set looks like something from Star Trek, but the same was said back in 05 was it not.

Exactly the sort of thing that people who have never watched Star Trek would say! The clichés 'space age' and 'mission control' are often trotted out in the same breath.
Aaaanyhow, I likes it and I'll probably start watching more if they keep up the nice camera angles. Just proves I'm a sucker for style over content when it comes to news channels, but then I guess they wouldn't spend the money on revamps if it didn't have that exact effect!
Oh and I realise this might be a stupid question, but does anyone know if the new set has been built to be HD-ready? I know a HD news channel is hardly a priority but it would certainly be a USP

Sasha Twining on Twitter. I'm sure she will eventually become one of Sky''s star anchors, don't ask me why, I just have a feeling.
Yesterday I was so unsure over the set, but now I do actually like it. I'm still not sure about the desk, but the actual layout of the new set is much better. I like the Sky News Today background and the studio just looks amazing on Afternoon Live.
One thing I'm a bit unsure of is the random fins next to the gallery wall, they just look out of place, but I'm sure they had to put something there, otherwise it would just be a shot of the unused stairs.

Ah, that's what's wrong! I spotted an odd-looking typeface somewhere, but couldn't quite put my finger on it. It seems to be incorrect in the DVE wipe.
Just spotted some clever use of the newswall - the front of the podium, and the elbow (is that what we've to call it?) were rendered in 3D, and halfway through the piece, were swept away.
(Ah, remember the early days of the newswall? "Let's roll out the floormap..")
