Are no Sky presenters in or heading to Haiti?

Not to my knowledge. Surprising. I thought they may send at least one of Thompson, Brazier or Wilson.

They don't seem to have much equipment out there either. I believe all of the lives are being down through satellite phones or using the CBS/Fox facilities.

Has Stuart Ramsay been on screen yet? He was having problems with his journey and was stuck in Miami, last I heard.

Perhaps Wilson might be en route? Just cant help feel that the Sky News of the past would have been all over this. Perhaps the budget is spent on big name presenters these days rather than on actual content.

How long have Sky News been promoting Sky Sports in the sports news section?

There is currently a much larger then normal Sky Sports HD logo on screen in colour and now they have LIVE FROM 17:00 on Sky Sports 2.

Didn't think this was allowed on news programmes and that when showing video from another channel they could only show the branding of the channel that is broadcast on the feed.

But surely that's only the same as the BBC promoting sporting fixtures on their channels during the weather forecasts?

They certainly seem to be doing it a lot more often since the new(ish) Sky Sports logo, even to the extent of using the logo on the 'Pictures from...' graphic (much like Sky Sports News do).

It's not something they've never done before, though - I can certainly recall a good few years back they plugged a Kay Burley interview on Sky One that was on later in the day, complete with logo and programme time.

I'd guess that it's allowed as long as it's newsworthy - I imagine they are pushing it slightly though!

Probably overspent on all this HD lark so they can't afford the flights.

On another issue completely, and apologies if this has been covered before, has Ian Woods now permanently moved to Australia?

He's been reporting from there since at least mid-late last year, but I didn't see anything from Sky's press office. Seems unusual for them to make an appointment like that and not at least mention it. Presumably studio facilities etc are already dealt with quite easily with Sky News Australia, so it's just a case of his salary.

Still astonishing they have nobody in South America though.

Ian Woods is on a 6 month trial assignment based at Sky News Australia in Sydney.

This is what I mean

Having the channel logo on screen while having footage from that channel. This is what I didn't think was allowed.

Sky used to do this (think it was when they had the slug look) and they were told off for it if I remember rightly. I may be wrong though.

For the past couple of weeks. It started with the Sky Sports logo simply appearing next to televised games on the page of fixtures, and was then expanded to showing it on screen as you have captured when replaying Sky coverage.
