James Matthews just cleared some snow off a car and accidently threw it straight in to the camera lens.

I bet his cameraman isn't pleased. Mind you, maybe he was a bit too close.

Anyone else got a whistling noise on Sky News? I can hear it on the OBs and the studio bits at the moment. I'm watching on Freeview due to snow on my dish again.

Sky News just broke the 'news' that Jonathan Ross is leaving the BBC seemingly before the BBC News Channel and his own Twitter.

Speaking of Twitter, quite an interesting article on Sky's social media strategy here:

@skynewsbreak has been really very fast in the few weeks since it launched, so it makes sense for them to plug it into skynews.com

Did they? I was watching the NC and they mentioned the news before returning to the weather story, I then flicked to Sky and Dermot was just introducing the story, in what sounded like the first time?

The NC broke the story around 1020. Gave me four minutes to get here and post the thread in the HF,

Seemingly.

Sky News went to a break so I turned to the News Channel for a few minutes before turning back to Sky to see them breaking the news just as they came back from the break, the News Channel did not seem to mention the story during Sky's break but its certainly possible they mentioned it before.

It was on Sky's ticker for a minute or two before Dermot broke off from a 'live' with Niall Paterson. In between it appearing on the ticker, and Dermot annoucing it, BBC News announced it. So if the ticker counts Sky broke it first

I think there was a protective perspex sheet over the lens. No harm done!

Good chance of a bit of Mark Longhurst on location for Sunrise this morning. Should be good. Colin has been on good form out and about last couple of days. Especially with the massive headgear today.

Anna Botting needs to move back to daytime. Watching her on Live at Five these past couple of nights has reminded me of how much of a good interviewer she is. Something she doesn't really get the opportunity to showcase on the late shift, at least not very often anyway.

Samantha Simmonds or Steve Dixon could take over weeknights.

The newswall is very noisy I find from the weather updates. Does anyone know what will happen to the newswall pending the HD Channel launch, also we can assume the logo will get the Sky Sports treatment of a losenge shape and lowercase logo, but will the graphics change, and could the logo change more dramatically? Also will the HD channel run with its own graphics set or will the two channels share graphics?

Did anyone manage to capture Mark Longhurst having to duck his own camera (or boom) at the 10am TOTH?
