Jason hasn't gone anywhere. He's been doing the night shift at weekends for some time now. They wheel him out for sport in the day during busy periods and very occasionally for news summaries but if anything he seems to have a lesser role at the station than he did a year or so ago.
I like him but I think he's more suited to sports presenter than news anchor especially given his background.
They had Jeremy Thomspon in on Christmas Day for two hours. What was the point in that? First time in years he's worked on Christmas Day I would think.
Apologies if I'm going slightly OT here, but does anyone remember when Sky used to show a live camera of the news gallery on the red button? Is it still around or did they get rid of it? Since switching to Virgin a few years back I haven't been able to get the red button on SN at all but of course the story is probably quite different for Sky subscribers.
If it is still going, is it available on the web anywhere?
Many thanks for the replies and links, however what I was talking about was live video of the gallery (control room) via the red button. You could watch Sky News going out and it being directed at exactly the same time. Guess it no longer exists

It went when the major revamp happened in 2005 AFAIK

Darn Thanks for the info. It was a great little gadget!
just watching sky news now and I really think Samantha Simmonds is one of the best presenters on the channel! She should definitely be given her own slot if any schedule changes were to be made any time soon!
