Eamonn wasn't lying about the Sunrise ratings going up. They are the highest I've seen in a long time.

To be fair I do think Sunrise is probably the strongest programme in the weekday lineup. The format is solid, and has the right mix of light and heavy for breakfast news whereas GMTV and Breakfast tend to be a bit too lightweight. Anyway, here's the latest ratings data courtesy of BARB:

w/e Sept 13
SUNRISE (Thu 06:00) 65

w/e Sept 20
SUNRISE (Tue 06:00) 67
SUNRISE (Wed 06:00) 65

w/e Sept 27
SUNRISE (Sun 06:00) 82
SUNRISE (Thu 06:00) 65
SUNRISE (Tue 06:00) 63

Pretty solid around the 60k mark which is not too shabby at all for a three hour programme. Probably one of the highest rated multi-channels at that time of day, beaten only by a few kids channels.

Only 60-80k viewers. Wow that's low.

Considering GMTV Claim 14m, those are low.

14m? Where did you get that figure from?

Currently GMTV averages about 900k. BBC Breakfast wins its slot on around 1.2m.

C4 and Five only have about 150k each at that time. So considering they are the second and third biggest commercial networks respectively, 60k for digital channel Sky News is pretty good indeed.

And you believed him?

Sounds like he is quoting the reach (which is anyone who has watched any of the output for 3 minutes in a month, or possibly a week) with a daily average - which is the average at any time throughout the programme.

Sunrise with Eamonn has developed into an excellent show over the four years he has been at Sky.

It's one of those shows that when someone is standing in for him, it lacks something.

That is bobbins.

EastEnders is usually the Beeb's top rated soap, and it gets around 9-10million. The X Factor is ahead of Corrie at the moment and is getting around 11-12million.

GMTV must be using REACH (I.e. how many people watch them for 15/30 minutes in any given week/month/year) not the average total audience watching for the duration of a given show, which is the normal "ratings" measure for shows in the press.

GMTV usually get less than a million using that measure, and Breakfast is a bit ahead most of the time, usually just above a million.

Disagree there. I've warmed to Eamonn a bit recently but I prefer it with Chris Roberts at the helm, he's a better interviewer and I just prefer his presenting style generally. Like Mark Longhurst on weekends also.

I also like both Chris Roberts and Mark Longhurst. However, Chris Roberts really struggles when he has people like James Whale and Jon Gaunt doing the paper reviews. He's like a rabbit in a car's headlights, and looks terrified as if they're going to say something too un-PC.
