The new Live Desk set up seems to have been ditched already - Samantha Simmonds was presenting from the island but not using the newswall at all this afternoon. It could have been the same yesterday as well, with Sarah Hughes I think?
I suppose there is the unlikely possibility that only Colin will use the newswall for the programme.
I love the backdrop on the Live Desk now, its been like this since Friday I think, it looks really good.
Nice new advert for Sky News too, a man in the centre of the screen, the camera pans round and changes location - first a home with Sky News Radio on, then an office space with TV screens showing Live at 5, then a park were the man has a laptop showing skynews.com, and finally the man holding a iPhone.
Well Sky News has just spent nearly 30 minutes playing CCTV footage of Steven Gerrard's fight. But the actual fight wasn't until 8 minutes into the video, so Kay Burley added her awful commentary for 8 minutes. I'm guessing no one bothered to watch the video through first, but 30 minutes of cctv pitctures is better than News, Sport and Weather
Is it just a coincidence that Nick Powell hasn't been seen onscreen since his apparent scrap with Kay last week?
He was on screen with Kay a couple of hours ago when news of Kevin Pietersen broke - I presume he did the sports updates for all of the programme as well.

Ah ok, only caught the tail end of AL. What I did see though was Kay allowing an interview to overrun to such an extent that poor Francis only had about 20 seconds to deliver his weather forecast.
Sky News investigation finds some repair shops illegally access personal data from customers' hard drives
When it should read ...
Sky News investigation finds
a
repair shop illegally access
ed
personal data from

computer
While I'm not defending the actions of the people in the computer shop, that strap line does not reflect what the Sky News investigation found, they presented no proof that it was standard practice in that shop, if they tried it in more than one shop, if it happened in any other shops... just this one occasion where it happened.

Investigations should not be on news programmes/channels anyway. Its just cheapness. Leave that the Watchdog and Tonight programme.

They tried 6 shops in total and 2 looked in personal files. 5 were dishonest about the nature of the fault and its repair cost.

Its weird when programming comes from the gallery backdrop, because the desk is not turned around enough, so the presenters are always facing across to their left in shots and looks slightly awkard. If they faced straight on with the position of the, the strip lights would be in the background.
