Just been looking at the programme guide some more. From 2nd February there will be a new Live Desk at 9am. Sky Today will start at 10 and run until 1 as normal. Live Desk at 1 remains. No presenter is given for the new morning Live Desk

I would suspect a headline presenter would do The Live Desk at 9am and then stay on for Sky Today at 10am (like what Colin does in the afternoons) - maybe Samantha Simmonds??

And with schedule changes on 2nd Feb - does anyone else think that this will be a safe bet for a return to the newsroom??

Then on the 20th:
Afternoon Live from Washington 1-4.30
The actual inauguration at 4.30
Washington Live with JT from 6-7.30
Then the Obama Parade 7.30-9

I wonder how much of that we'll get on Sky Arts HD?

Bad news for Anna, one of their best anchors is demoted to doing 3 minutes biz updates, that is just wrong.Sad Sad
I don't like Sasha Twining just like most of the newbees, the only one I like is Sarah Jane.

I was hoping Sky News was going to improve this year with the upcoming studio changes etc..., but with Anna moving to her new position, and worse presenters taking over, it looks like its going down hill even faster.

Sky News is not the Sky News we used to know and love anymore, a great shadow of its former self. What a shame that management has let this happen. It amazes me that someone at Sky News must think this is the way forward for the channel and thinks that Sky News is acceptable in its current format, and it is, but not compared to Sky News usual standards pre October 2005.

That relaunch marked the end of the good times for the channel.

Its fastly turning in to BBC News Channel, slow and dull.

So who would you all have doing the business news, if it wasn't Anna? I'm sure as far as job satisfaction goes, its a lot better than reading out the same stories every 15 minutes with bog all opportunity to do any in-depth interviews.

Also this year business news is going to be big news, i would not be suprised to see SKY extend there business coverage ove the comming year, Jeff Randalls show going four nights a week is just the start of it, you are saying it is not a very good appointment for her due to the previous standards of the business news, but this year i think that may change.

Compared to doing NSW, Business Bulletins probably aren't that bad. Just this morning she interviewed someone about the car industry. Short of breaking news hapenning she would never normally get to do that on NSW.

But compared to what Anna used to do - co-present Sky News Today, its a big demotion. As I said earlier I hope she is still allowed to cover Sky Today/Afternoon Live/Sky News at Ten otherwise I think Sky are really wasting her

If you read that Biog on Anna though, she is a specialist business journalist with a great deal of experience. In the coming year of continuing credit crunch - recession - unemployment - perhaps she's quite happy to be given the chance to report and present the latest twists and turns, it will be a major story for the foreseeable future.

Indeed. Prior to becoming a news anchor on BBC News 24, Anna was a Business Presenter alongside the likes of Owen Thomas, Teymoor Nabili, John Terret, Adrian Finighan and Richard Quest on BBC World. Perhaps she does indeed prefer doing just the business segments and - who knows - perhaps she is also taking up more of a behind-the-scenes editorial role. We never know.

Just because her time in front of the camera may be less in future doesn't actually mean that her involvement in the programming will actually be less.

However, all that said, it is kinda strange that a whole host of upcoming and not very good newbies seem to be given more prominence.

It's all a cycle, however. These current newbies that we don't like will become the stars and stalwarts of the future that we will be fighting to "save", just in the same way we are doing over Anna.

Why are Sky leading with the cricket story on Live At 5?

If people were really that interested they would watch Sky Sports News. Its things like this that remind me just how far the channel has fallen since Nick Pollard left.

It is a bit of a quiet news day though. Very few international stories on the ground.

Yes, if only something were happening in Gaza, for example.
