She's due to start GMTV on Jan 5th apparently, so unless Sky are still serious about holding her to her contract, today could well be her last stint on Sky News.

Jan 8th.

Just before 8pm last night, went to watch Sky news on freeview and It had a frozen vt-clock for Sky Sports News, flicked over to Sky Sports News and that was running fine. At the 8pm junction Sky sports news played out on Sky news for around 2 minutes until it just crashed straight into Sky News output. Was this just on Freeview or everywhere??

Hasn't Matt Smith left? I thought he'd been replaced by that younger looking bloke (name escapes me).

EDIT: His name's Steve Hargrave.

Just wondering because Matt Smith seems to have a programme every weeknight.

I can't really see this schedule being correct - Sky like their news every minutes too much. (Cheap TV)

Well I dunno how much to read into it but Matt Smith did do that stint on the Dot Com show a while back.

Must say I like the schedule with the exception of "Showbiz Tonight" which I feel would have no place on the channel. A political show would be much better. If I remember correctly the "Boulton Factor" was a ratings success in the 2005 election campaign.
Some parts of the schedule do make sense though as well, such as Tim Marshall being involved in Sunday Live because Adam Boulton is going to be in America for 100 days from Jan 20th.

Sasha back again now. My guess would be Sky had lined up a high profile interview that they deemed Anna would be better at handling but in the end it didn't materialise for whatever reason.

Fair point, you might be right.

But for me this week as just shown how far Sky has fallen, topped off by having top presenters like Dermot and Anna doing 15 minute news wraps. What next JT on the 15 min stuff??

yeah, Live at Five is being replaced by, Live at 5 Every 5. One report and sports headlines!

I wouldn't put it past them!!

As for this "new schedule" on wikipedia, it seems stupid to have 1 hour of business, 1 hour of online and 1 hour of showbiz, EVERYNIGHT - that's a bit over the top!!

Maybe they could rotate, i.e. business on Monday and Wednesday, online Tuesday and Thursday and showbiz Friday. I am liking the fact that Anna Jones would be involved in a more high profile slot.

I aint buying this supposed line up!

However, I would argue that Anna Jones has a high profile, as she is the main evening anchor for the channel. Anna Botting seems to be the deputy and not the sheriff in the late evening slot.

I wish this was true cause Anna and Colin were a good team 2 years ago.
They really need to have one show with 2 anchors.

Don't buy into the schedule mainly due to all the mistakes. Perhaps there could be some truth in it though, who knows? I am sure there will be schedule changes this year, just wasn't expecting anything quite as drastic as that.

Certainly the end of the 15 minute bulletins and the return of double-headed programmes would be welcomed, and I think the pairings mentioned would work really well, but not sure about Showbiz Tonight which isn't going to do much for Sky News' reputation it has to be said.

Yeah - that's what made me think twice about this schedule. Sky would do well to pad out 1 hour every weekday on just showbiz - and as you say their reputation would just go further down the chute that it has already gone.

What happening with Sky News then?

What we know:
> Studio work underway now (revealed possibly end on January/early February
> Possibly move back into normal studio on Monday with desk in new location
> Eamonn Holmes blogs a new look Sunrise in Spring
> Bigger shoebox changes

Rumours:
> New schedule and new look studio in January
> New music

Its strange that if Eamonn has been told a new look Sunrise in the spring, so they will wait until earliest March to reveal the new shoebox area? or does it also mean graphic changes etc...

And where will Sunrise come from for the time being? As the elbow has had to be removed, because it would be too close to the desk in its new location?

Early march till we see studio changes? I don't think so.

I bet there's something going at the other end of the newswall, like another elblow or something, as I remember some of those desks was cleared aswell.

What's everyone got against the 15 minute bulletins?

Aside from the fact that I can't quite see how it makes commercial sense seeing as people won't want to sit through ads to see what they've already seen, I personally find it quite useful to have the news condensed into 12 minutes and they tend to be at the time of day I want to see them. Am I right in suggesting you don't like them because it gives you less to talk about on here?
