AHA! I knew it. He mentioned his blood sugars a few weeks ago and I got all excited 'cos I realised that news presenters can actually have diabetes and still do long shifts.
I should really add some context to this...I have diabetes type 1 too and want to be a television journalist. Fills me with festive cheer!
(Theres honestly nothing to be sad about ginnyfan)
What's happened to the usual TOTH pans? Seem to have done away with them this weekend.
Whats that then? It seemed normal yesterday, but an overnight bulletin has a moving camera shot, makes a nice change.
Im also surprised that even the "plasma on a stand" is motorised. Saw it creep in the other day for a report at the newswall. Weird seeing it move on its own. Clever though.
Wonder if they ever knock the cameras into anything while moving them from the gallery?

Is the jibs motorised aswell?
Its all to do with the empty newsroom behind the desk due to the refurbishments/changes being made.
I seem to remember a TOTH being posted on here from the 2005-2006 era when a remote camera went awol on a TOTH and went flying across the studio and crashing. Anyone have a clip of this? I'd love to see it again, it was quite amusing!

Brilliant. I searched on YouTube but only the Martin Stanford one. Did the presenter(s) say anything when it happened?
Sounds promising, now if we could just have two presenters again for the majority of the day that would be super!
Feel free to shoot me down here but anyone else thinking sofa for the improved shoebox ala GMTV and Breakfast for Slim Jim to sit on?
Only suggest it because looks like the elbow will have to move to allow the desk to move back or am I barking up the wrong newswall?

I hope they get rid of the elbow - its used too much. And used badly. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to bring a whole programme from their sitting on a stool?!
I thought of a good schedule for Sky News - could I post it here?

Agreed. Sunrise and Live at Five work fine with a single presenter. However daytime needs to double up again from 9am through til 5pm, especially Sky News Today. And I would like to see two presenters back again in the evenings and the 15 minute bulletins scrapped. (put them on Active and Online but not on the main channel)

Go on then. It's the time of year which revolves around fantasy, so why not?

So bascially flagship programmes dual headed, with single headed programmes all being Sky News Live. I would have Sky News Live presented like Australia's Sky News Now, presenting from the news desk. Sky News Today would be like it used to be, moving around the studio and all that.
Weekends would be double headed at the TOTH, then single headed at the half hour.
I also thought about reintroducing the Sky Report, with Anna Botting at 9pm, and even a Live Desk at 8pm?
