I can confirm there is going to be some rejiggling as such in the studio in the coming months, some deskspace is going to be moved and the desk may be moved back. One thing I know for sure though is that the shoebox will be getting more studio space.

Sounds like the only bit of life in the actual studio part of the news centre (where the producers sit between the desk and newswall) is going to be removed then.

I think the Live Desk has it right - a good format with immediacy, and the hustle of the newsroom. They just need to bring another main presenter in to double-head it and we'll be back where we started in 2003.

Sounds good to me...a move to be done in time for the 20th anniversary?!

Possibly, but no real correlation. Their focus is on the here and now.Expect some musical changes too, nothing soon though. We all know that TV Forum is just one great splat of hyperbole. Yes, changes will happen, but nothing to get excited about or anytime soon.

That sounds like a good idea though. Moving the desk back, it will only get rid of those desks that are hardly used anyway. They look in the way at the moment, and useless. Plus moving it back, they could swing the desk around, and see more of the newsroom.

I think that they should take the neon lights down to the right of the desk and use the newsroom as a backdrop, then the newswall would be to the left of the desk.

I know the desk can currently be turned around to the left, but can it go the other way? Shame we dont see it moving, waste of technology really as with the newswall these days.

The main desk can revolve 360 degrees. When they moved over to the new studio in 2005 we used to see it revolving during the TOTH voice of God bit on Sky News Today. It used to be fun watching presenters step onto the moving platform to try and take a seat.

True - if the desk was moved back a bit, then it could get a view of both the newsroom and gallery. Do they still use the neon globe background for the World News in the mornings?

Just wondering, because I thought the rotating desk might have been broken seeing as the hardly ever use it anymore.

Maybe it takes quite a lot of time for it to rotate properly and they cant be bothered? Laughing
