LOL. Just watching Live at Five and they have just played out the funniest ad I've seen by Sky News yet, regarding how they are always 'first' for breaking news...

"Who does Brown talk to first?"

(cue clip of Brown talking to Boulton in Washington)

Boulton: Thank you very much indeed. If you could go that way please sir, I think the BBC are waiting for you.

"See it first on Sky News."

Merely so that Brown can get the easy interview out of the way before going on to the challenging one. A kind of warm up act.

But then again what more do you expect from Murdoch?

I'd say that it's highly unlikely to suddenly pop up at midnight

Sky News has apologised in the high court today and agreed to pay "substantial damages" to Robert Murat over a libellous web story and video about the Madeleine McCann disappearance that likened him to an infamous child murderer.

Quote:
Sky News, which is owned by BSkyB, is to also carry an apology on its website for 12 months. The story, headlined "Journalist reported man to the police", and accompanying video , titled "It reminded me of Soham", went up on the Sky News website within days of McCann's abduction in May 2007.

Funny that isn't it!

I'm sure there used to be a "Madeline Section" where devotees could pick on the latest pieces of non-news from the dedicated reporting team.

Seems to have vanished. Must be coincidental.

For anyone interested the Sky News article on the libel win is at...

...I can't find an actual apology though.

Funnily enough the BBC News article is longer, though has a much shorter URL...

From the apology

Between May 2007 and September 2008 we published on this website a video of, and an article about, an interview with Sunday Mirror journalist Lori Campbell.

From the news report about it on the Sky website
Quote:
The article, which was published until April this year, and the video, which was accessible until this September

It's November 2008 and the article is still there, no sign of the video though.
