Not strictly TV related but still pretty major news, as IRN drop ITN in favour of Sky News. After Five News this is another example of Sky News chipping away at ITN's responsibilities. Also another example of Sky News trying to adopt a multi-platform personna, as the actual TV offering continues to suffer against News 24.

As I'm sure Sky News already have a presence in radio, I assumed IRN was ITN and didn't just commission ITN to produce the bulletins, but obviously I was wrong. I guess this makes Sky the dominant commercial radio news provider then, if not virtually a monopoly.

Now based in the basement of ITN's Gray's Inn Road headquarters in central London, IRN provides a 24-hour service covering national and international news to UK commercial radio stations.

Hmm, that could get awkward!

Strangely written artice from the Daily Mail - the headline is that she failed to show up for work - as the article states, she was advised to rest for a few days. Perhaps that may be the reason.

I'm sure Sky will be just as capable as ITN were at supplying IRN with its sports and showbiz obsessed editorial agenda !

Sky was providing news for all the former Chrysalis stations (Heart and Galaxy) which were bought out by Global Radio (plus a few others).

Global is now the majority shareholder in IRN, so I guess this change doesn't totally come out of the blue.

Nope, I only saw it on in the Gym but it was Lorna Dunkley and a male presenter, can't remember his name.
