Ashish Joshi is improving all the time. He's already better than Andrew Wilson.

He has no personality.

Actually I think this is the biggest problem with the new presenters, they show no spark or personality outside of reading the autocue.

That's what separates them from the likes of Kay, Jeremy, Adam Boulton etc...

That's because all the new presenters are limited to either the NSW format or news summaries/updates, which do not allow much scope for showing their personality. It doesn't mean they don't have one!

Chris Roberts is still my favourite anchor on Sky News because he can do both light & serious so seemlessly, but then he is fortunate in that he's given the freedom to do that on Saturday Live.

Kay Burley
Jeremy Thompson
Colin Brazier
Steve Dixon
Anna Jones
Chris Roberts
Mark Longhurst
Martin Stanford
Lorna Dunkley
Gillian Joseph

These are the A-Team at present and should be Paired for Double-Header shows. The can be personable, and serious.

The others suit the update/summary format, but for the weekends and the holiday seasons they should be paired with the A-List and be encouraged to have Banter which shows their experience and knowledge of journalism and the world.

Martin, did you miss out Anna Botting deliberately? I would personally consider her to be an A-lister, perhaps ahead of Gillian Joseph. However, that's just my personal opinion.

I'm sure that Sky News would also include Eamonn, Dermot and Anna B in the A-team, I know I would.

I have not seen Anna B for such time, I am sorry I forgot her.

Eammon and Dermot do not count on that list, they are not suited to Sky News, and as such they are all single headed for a reason...

Agreed Derek. I think that Anna and Dermot are A listers.
Not sure I would describe Eamonn as an A-lister, but he is part of the main line up at the moment.

If they did double head why not mix up the A-listers with the B-listers

Weekdays
6am Sunrise - Eamonn Holmes with Charlotte Hawkins
10am Today - Dermott Murnagham with Sasha Twinning
1pm Afternoon Live - Kay Burley with Mark White
5pm Evening Live - Jeremy Thompson with Samantha Simmonds
7pm - Sky News.Com with Martin Stanford or Sarah Jane Mee
7.30pm - Jeff Randall Live
9pm Tonight - Anna Botting with Jason De La Pena
with
Colin Brazier doing The Live Desk at 9am, 12pm and perhaps 4pm?

Friday variation
7.30pm - Showbiz Report with Steve Hargrave

Weekend
6am Sunrise - Mark Longhurst with Gillian Joseph
9am Today - Chris Roberts with Helen Fospero
12pm Weekend Live - Lorna Dunkley with Ashish Joshi
5pm Evening Live - Andrew Wilson with Tasmin Roberts
9pm Tonight - Steve Dixon with Luwesa Burak

Something like this would help rising stars come through along with the masters - such as in days of Bob Friend and Anna Botting for example?

Just a thought folks

I have fallen into the presenter discussion which I so detest on these forums...

Moving On.

So when the new studio is back in use, will there only be the 3 presenting areas (Main Desk with newsroom behind, the Newswall, and the Shoebox/Soft Set) or are other regions in the newsroom being looked at as presentation points?

I have fallen into that as well - sorry folks - I was only giving you an example of my main point having a main anchor with someone coming through the ranks.

It will be interesting to see what is utilised once the new studio is ready. Surely three areas is not utilising the size of this studio/newsroom either? I would also imagine that Colin will fronting be The Live Desk from the same location as he has done?

I would assume that the Live Desk area and the balcony will still be used as normal.

I hope that Sky make more use of the studio they will have but I don't hold out much hope,,,

Well this is a point, The Live Desk is a new strand, as is Skynews.com, so I hope there are some allowences in consideration for where these are presented from, also I hope this is the end of the balcony, unless it is given a refurbish also to give it more room, and a decent desk/sofa...

The balcony needs a clear out and got back to 2 stools/glass stand. More clutter is the last it needs.

Well I personally hope the newswall is utilised much more than at present, along with that pod at the end of the newswall runway.
