Must say Sky News has been just superb today,JT as always has been very good but for the first time in a while I feel the whole production and handling of a big event from Sky has been spot on.

And the HD stuff earlier was brilliant, the graphics, the logo and most importantly the picture were all top notch.

Hopefully today is a sign of things to come in the New Year for Sky.

Yeah - today was the first time in my head that I could see Sky SUCCESSFULLY launching into HD.

I'm also certain that the studio will all be HD friendly when they return, surely all that Sky have to decide now is the exact date for HD launch....

Samantha Simmonds was pretty good doing the paper review just there... Haven't seen her before in the type of relaxed style the paper review affords, she'd be good at the type of double-headed banter that's being talked about here. One panellist said a headline "ripped the piss" out of Jonathan Ross' lisp, she joked: "while we're talking about language, we'll apologise for yours."

It's only being talked about though. It's not actually going to happen, because Sky are too stubborn to admit the current format is not working that well. Or so it would seem anyway...

Oh I know that, was just saying she'd be good is all. If the changes that are in the pipeline remove some of what's being rightly complained about here then I suppose that would be an admission of sorts... Won't be holding my breath though.

Have a look at Anna Jones' analysis of the recession (which is getting it's own little branded strap by the look of it) on Sky News Active and there's a very unusual CSO background.

It's a strange looking newsroom background, with the familiar neon globe in the background, and the steps, and bits of red and dash of blue. And lots of purple.
