Sorry for being very ignorant - what changes are happening in the Sky News studio??

From posts on here we are being told that the desk is being moved back closer to the newswall.

The shoebox is being extended (thats the area where Kay normally uses for interviews).

And some people were suggesting that those "fins" (stupid lighting strips) are being removed.

Expecting to see changes on screen at the end of January/start of February- possibly in time for the 20th anniversary.

I was wondering, will the image on the newswall not be blurred if the desk is moved back?

Having the same thought myself - with a bit of luck we will maybe get an improved image on the newswall or the desk will be rotated to use the real newsroom as the background?!?

They could be upgrading the newswall to make it HD friendly? It's been mentioned before that if (or more likely when) they launch a HD news channel, the quality of the newswall in its current state will be very noticeable close-up.

I like the fins, by the way, I hope they're not going.

What about the studio's colour scheme. Is RED and BLUE still the colours of choice?

I hope the fins are gone, never liked them cause they hide the newsroom.

Isn't the bulk of the newsroom actually upstairs?

Always thought it was mainly just producers etc downstairs with a few journos.

I don't think so, the part behind the fins looks like the heart of the newsroom.

Amazing. I've come in from the pub and knew nothing about the plane's emergency landing in the Hudson River on Sky News apart from the trusty ticker. Meanwhile BBC News is telling me more. OK, a bit of an unsociable hour - but a bit of a faux pas for a rolling news channel?

If Im not wrong, the newsroom is indeed the area blocked by the fins, the upstairs are some working space for producers and admin. I think its on the Sky News Greenroom website.
