Not sure where to put this so appologies if this is the wrong place but....

TV has been left on Sky News and The Pledge is on, who are these people and why are they talking about the topics they are talking about?

It's like they have come up with a topic and then decided half will agree and half will disagree and talk over each other for 10 mins before they move onto the next topic... Just don't get the point of it.

I don't get the point of it either, Dave. I put Sky News on earlier to find out the latest about the police officers who were shot in Louisiana and found that The Pledge was on. The two-minute chunk I saw featured a discussion about whether Andrea Leadsom's comments about motherhood had any basis in fact. They're discussing 'news' which is between a week and two weeks out of date. It's not even topical, and frankly, I don't care what June Sarpong thinks of a woman who pulled out of the leadership race over a week ago, or, indeed, anything else. I think it's a waste of air time.

There are some good fillers on Sky News, Week in Review and Swipe to name two, but The Pledge as mentioned is a cacophony of noise with out of date news.

Considering we've had Nice, an attempted coup in Turkey and Baton Rouge, it's not the wisest decision to schedule an hour of pre-recorded output tonight.

To be fair, it was Monday that Leadsom pulled out of the contest, and The Pledge first airs on a Thursday so it was only three days old news at the time, and in a normal week that would still be relevant for a weekly discussion programme, but it has not been a normal week.

I assume it was shown in its normal repeat slot (not sure why it needs so many when it's available on demand also).

It's an awful programme which doesn't fit in with anything else Sky News does, and I can't see it lasting very long.

When I first heard the plans for Pledge, I imagined a Question Time type programme. But it's more like something from Fox News, it's ok but I think a QT type show would have been better. It would be better for radio.

Interesting to note that Sky's new building, Sky Central, opened today. 600 staff moved in, plenty of pictures via Twitter. It seems that the new Sky News 'glass box' studio is covered up, but if Kay Burley was right, we only have to wait until September to see it on-air.

If I remember rightly, there will be the studio in Sky Central but also a 'newsroom based' studio, will that also be in Sky Central, or is it in Sky Studios? Has work been started on that set?

ooh, who is tweeting the pictures, I must of missed them?

Edit: a quick search of #SkyCentral found all the posts. Building looks pretty cool.
The new studio looks to have graphics on the glass. Not sure if they will stay there or are temporary.

I'm sure the studio windows will be uncovered when the studio's in use.

Judging by the images on Twitter, the restaurant that was previously mentioned is on the ground floor, below the studio - so hopefully that won't feature in the background. People tucking into their fish & chips wouldn't exactly be the most professional backdrop for a news channel.
