Here's a crazy idea that will no doubt go down badly.

It's quite clear that Rubin on World News Tonight just isn't going to work. It's rumoured that Sky tried to poach T McD, presumably for this slot. With it looking inevitable that the ITV NC is going to close, and presuming he'd find going back to just doing London Tonight a bit dull, how about Sky poaching Alastair Stewart for a kind of news analysis show 8pm-9pm? I'd watch, for one. (Which is one up on the current 8-9 slot?)

Any other presenter from any other network on the planet would probably do wonders for World News Tonight. Stick Dan Rather on it, at least he looked interested when he was reading the news on CBS. Which is more than can be said for Rubin.

Why are Allan and paula presenting Rubin's slot, don't tell me they've sacked him!

Nice to see those two back together, Paula seems to be playing a bigger part in SN now

probably something to do with the World Cup draw.

Just thinking re: World News Tonight - with John Suchet joining Five News next year he'd be a perfect replacement for Rubin.

that would be brillaint. John Suchet would suit it well if he got adapted to Sky. James should be like Washington Expert for London, (ie. being in studio as a commentator when something happenes in America)

The Top Of The Hour sequence today has gone back to how it used to be before the relaunch. While probably only temporary due to today's events, It runs a lot better than the usual TOTH sequence which sees them cramming in three things in the space of 90 seconds.

This is how they usually do it on a weekend. It'll be full of fluff again tomorrow.

OK - Weekdays, they have a lot of what I call "fluff" in the top of the hour sequence. - Largely coming up, coming up, your views, coming up, coming up, headlines. i.e. It takes them ages to get to the meat of the sequence.

On Weekends they tend to just go straight into the headlines rather than telling you what is coming up in the hour - which is what they did all the time before the relaunch.

A picture of Francis was there the other day. Although I did notice that like that earlier in the week.
