One thing that really niggles me... at the TOTH on Sky News Today, I absolutely *hate* how they say what's coming up, and then they say the headlines, doing one each with a close-up of each of them speaking. I don't know why but it looks really amateur.

Looks like Steve Gaisford is one of the regular standins - he's doing SNT right now in place of Steve Dixon, plus he did the 9-12 one yesterday in place of Martin Stansford. Bit of a strange choice I'd say, he's not exactly a big Sky News name (isn't he actually off Sky Sports News?) although he's not too bad. Would rather see Allan King or Martin Popplewell though to be honest.

Also, Kay was off yesterday (not sure about today) so Mark Longhurst did Lunchtime Live.

Yeah interesting to see the back-ups becoming clear as people take time off two weeks in... and how they take senior presenters from Today to fill the prime slots.

Steve Dixon from Today to Sunrise.
Mark Longhurst from Today to Lunchtime Live
Martin Stanford from Today to Live at Five tonight

Also surely they have more presenters that could have done one of the slots Steve Gaisford did on Sky News Today today - six hours live on air!?

I think he's a decent presenter - they're obviously determined to keep to a core of presenters on daytime.

Hmm. The swastika on the front of the desk for the top of the Sky Report was a bit unnecessary.

Only like the big screen showing an image of the main news of the day on the Ten / on ITV News?

I know, but somehow just a plain swastika looked rather crass. You usually get a montage of images.

Yes, Steve Gaisford's got the 2-5pm shift on Friday's. Steve Dixon will be on Friday's Sunrise.

Kay was back for today's Lunchtime Live.

It seems to be back now.

Did the clock disapear too?

I'm sure that the clock is built onto the ticker instead of them being seperate. They seemed to have problems within the first few days when showing the CBS news, to put the clock on without the ticker, so in the end they left it.

The only other time that I've seen it without the ticker was last Saturday when 2am became 1am again, the clock & ticker didn't appear for a fair few minutes in.

Sky News Ireland generates its clock seperately - it appears seperately to the static ticker at the start of the bulitten. I'm sure Sky News itself is able to do this too (in fact did they not do it for CBS News at the start of the new look?

I was thinking of a new idea for the titles on SNI.

Instead of showing the newsroom in london, they should start off with that but go into the WNT globe thing then doing a few fly over shots of ireland then it wil zoom out to the globe with ireland the focus

What you think?

Just an update from an international viewer... For some reason, the international feed seems to have dropped the blue bar with the Sky News logo on it at the bottom of the screen (the same layout as what UK viewers get, just without any ticker text), replacing it now with a blank black strap which remains permanently on screen (it doesn't get removed for ad breaks or anything). Not only does this simply look weird, it also means that for international viewers, there's no channel branding permanently on screen. Now, it's possible that as I'm viewing this through Sky News Australia Active, that they're the ones putting that black bar on there - however, in the past, Sky News Australia has only ever covered up the ticker bar or static info bar (with a dark blue strap - not black) only when UK content is shown on the main channel - they've never bothered doing anything to the UK feed on the active service. If any other international viewers could confirm that they're seeing the same thing we are here, then that would be great.

Meanwhile, and this I can be quite certain of, the breakfiller still hasn't been updated - still using the old music and the old logo. I know the breakfiller probably isn't a top priority at the moment, but surely it shouldn't take that long to at least update the logo!

Over here in NZ its the black bar too, but a while a go for a little bit it was a black bar.

When Sky News UK is simulcasted on Sky News Aus/NZ during the early hours, I do see the current new ticker with logo and no scrolling text. So im not sure whats up with that.
