I think its even more interesting that BBC3 and BBC4 get 1200 and 6600 viewers respectivly before they even start broadcasting.

And it's interesting to see how BBC 3 and BBC4 news programmes are doing

…...…….....…....…..Sky……………..News24……………..ITV……………..BBC3……………..BBC4
18:55 …………….. 051.0 …………….. 030.1 …………….. 021.5 …………….. 001.2 …………….. 006.6
19:00 …………….. 035.1 …………….. 032.2 …………….. 011.8 …………….. 006.6 …………….. 029.5
19:05 …………….. 026.1 …………….. 057.3 …………….. 011.5 …………….. 004.5 …………….. 042.2

Although, in reality, that is just the effects of extrapolating a small sample.

World News Tonight is disappointing, I think the programme should stay, but they need to find someone else who can handle presenting. Maybe James Ruben will improve. I was hoping for something more along the lines of The World on BBC 4. Perhaps Zeinab Badawi should present World News Tonight on Sky.

I think they need to be less gimmicky and more quality. And I really think they should axe one of the Sportslines for a business programme.

I don't mind having different format programmes, it breaks the schedule up, but they do need to find the right chemistry, which they will.

I agreee, I hate that straight after Sky News Ireland, we have a sport show, when Sky have a dedicated sports-news channel, perhaps remind people that it exists at the end of each sport update.

A business programme would be alot more interesting

I liked pretty much everything about this relaunch on Monday, but as the week has gone on I'm starting to get picky about things.

--- Why oh why at 21:58 do viewers in Ireland get the tease from Chris and Gillian for Sky News at 10, and then get inflicted with that weapon of mass destruction Grainne? The only handy thing is that it reminds me to go into Other Channels and watch the UK bulletin! But there is no point in that tease for Irish viewers, it would surely look better if the tease was from Dublin - they've already opted out for Irish ads so it shouldn't be that difficult!

--- Live at 5 with JT is disappointing me - the idea of the programme is good, and while I love JT as a presenter I don't think he is the right anchor for it. It would be an ideal programme for Steve Dixon or Martin Stanford.

--- World News Tonight is a good programme. I enjoy getting detailed info on world news. I also was ignoring Rubin's faults but they are starting to bug me a bit more and more now.

--- I'm of the crew that never liked Chris Roberts as an anchor and being honest I still don't. I think as a news presenter he should keep his opinions to himself. Then a miracle on Monday night - no opinions and he had paced up his read a bit - but slowly during the week we're getting back to the same old Chris. I also feel sorry for Gillian Joseph. While I never understood giving her the role, she's just a token beside him, during paper preview she hardly opens her mouth!

Those are my rants for now, DSB

Jeremy Thompson is great as a reporter but I think he's weak as a presenter, he just fluffs too much for my liking. Did they try something different earlier in the week with the newsreaders introducing themselves? It's good to hear Steve Jones' voice introducing the bulletins it just seems more professional than on BBC News 24. However Sky need to sort out the pictures not matching what the newsreaders are saying sometimes.

Apart from that though I like the new look Sky News.

Well they seem to be playing the new music clean in one of the Active screens now.

I personally think that on the whole "Breaking News" shouldn't be top priority for Sky News during it's Appointment to View programming, unless it's a major story.

Of course not! Who'd want news on a news channel? It'd get in the way of the consumer programmes! Rolling Eyes

Anyway, it's obvious that the whole idea of breaking news isn't top priority now for Sky News.

Laughing - but a news channel doesn't have to be all about breaking news - it is good to have regular points where you get a decent news bulletin.

Of course the question now is how long Sky will persevere with Rubin. I can't imagine they'll want to keep him if he carries on being as stiff and uncomfortable as he is. He might improve - it can happen - but I suspect this might end in tears.

you're the one with tv capture capabilities.

I've mentioned this somewhere else, but for daytime they may as well record one hour and play it over and over again. It's just that repetitive. They seem to show off their new studio, but the content is still the same, if not there is less detail in reporting and more focus on presenters. They have fiddled with the presenters too much - a three anchored programme is certainly ambitious, but Sky cannot utilise it to the full. Only good thing really is Sunrise IMO; Holmes is suited to this role. Sky News has Americanised.

You're right. Unfortunately I'm on Freeview, not digital satellite so can't get the Active service. Can you, with your tv capture capabilities?
