Great, Sky is still the first for important news, BBC can't compare to them.
Now if they would only goback to 2 presenters and use the set more.

Really as the BBC have more people in the area e.g.
George Aligiah - Presenting from the border
John Simpson - Inside Zimbabwe
Ian Pannell - Inside Zimbabwe
Orla Guerin - in South Africa
Karen Allan - in South Africa

Exactly. Last night Huw in the studio handing to George & Orla in SA, with Ian Pannell and Simpson in Harare - can't get better coverage than that.

"Back at my desk in the dot com office. And some breaking news of our own for web users: we have confirmed plans for a series of Sky News Unplugged programmes. From 7th May on a Wednesday lunchtime I will be hosting a new kind of rolling news discussion. We are going to react to news stories and topics quite literally as they happen. And we'll want you to take part too."

From Martin Stanford on the Sky.Com News blog, great news in my opinion, the budget show was great.

I hope they get an Active Screen, and a better studio than hijacking a Radio one.

OK, so the new graphics launch tonight/tomorrow?

Can we compile a list of the rumours as all I seem to have read is 'similar to CNN'.

Glassy and like CNN - Think of it as an evolution, not revolution, and that's all that's known.

Thursday is still the rumour, nothing is confirmed yet.

Its by no means a major change, more of an evolution of the current package. Music has been tweaked too from what I hear. Expect a longer TOTH.

I still think there will be no confirmation tonight, even if the graphics are launching. I mean, like I said before, they made a massive hype about the last set of graphics and then the blog got about 500 replies saying people hated them.

They do sound very nice though, and a longer TOTH? Fantastic! I'd guess only by about 4 or 5 seconds, but still its good there bringing everything in together. You never know, they may even launch them supposed new weather graphics that were talked about on the Editor's Blog Surprised

Really?!

They're like the little boy who cried "Wolf!" everything is 'BREAKING NEWS' with Sky. It's impossible to tell from watching it as wallpaper (corner of the room, while multitasking) when they have some important news, because important news looks exactly like the time around a dozen horses were stuck in a stable in a flood.

And while the BBC were reporting about Congo and Iraq war dead soldiers inquiry, Sky had the skycopter hovering over the RCJ for the McCartney Mills divorce and a fashion item about sunglasses and celebrities...

And you think Sky does the important news?

I guess they do, if you think important means celebrity and cat stuck up tree melodrama.

I find Sky inifinitely more watchable than BBC News of any description. I don't know why, it's just the way it is. I also think they come into their own as far as major Breaking News is concerned.

I believe Sky News are better delivering breaking news - they're often a minute or so ahead of the BBC.

However, I can't say one has better coverage when it comes to breaking news, as both do well and not so well, and it changes from day to day.

Overall though, when there is breaking news, I turn Sky News on.
